Those are MAE wheels which are somewhat popular with some Mercedes Benz owners, namely pimps in Germany. The W140 definitely is one of the last real overengineered German tanks. It really suited former chancellor Helmut Kohl well.

Fun fact: The W140 was too wide to fit into the Bundestag car wash or the train to Sylt, so both had to be upgraded.
