God damn do I hate people lol. Would have done exactly the same! If I was in the shoes of the other guy, I would be assuming that anyone coming would just hit me. There is never a time that I trust someone to not hit me. Even though by getting rear ended, im not at fault, I still dont want to get rear ended! The worst though are people pulling out from store parking lots and such. I forgive them always if they realize the mistake and speed the fuck up shortly thereafter. But 99% of the time they are in their own little world and just putter along like they almost didnt get hit by a fast moving object.

I don’t trust anyone either. I got hit once (minor), now I watch people’s behaviour closer... and if I see ineptitude I’ll brake very early to spoof them, then as they close up within a millimeter of my bumper I have somewhere to go. I don’t brake anymore without looking in the rearview. A lesson that for some reason is not taught in class.

Everytime I drive with other people who wait until the last possible moment to stop for things, it just gives me so much anxiety. I always plan for every vehicle in front of me to come to complete stop for no reason. The greatest concern I have while driving is always that the retard behind me will not stop in time. Its so easy to not hit other people honestly.

I don’t brake early most of the time. It’s a pain in the ass for me to be behind someone who’s always on the brakes, so I try not to be the thing I hate.
For example, I hate people who begin slowing down for a turn (that they usually haven’t even begun signalling for yet) when they’re half a block away from it. If there’s no traffic behind me, I WILL slow down earlier, but not that early... if there IS traffic behind me, I’ll hit the brakes when I reach the turn lane and get out of the way ASAP.
I’m not necessarily out to be the fastest guy on the road, but I hate breaking up momentum. And I try to give the same treatment to others.
But rest assured that paying attention, and will brake early if that’s the safest thing to do.

The thing that gets me most here, is the way the were in such a hurry that they ran the red and couldn’t make the turn into the correct lane. And then weren’t in a hurry, so they could sit behind a truck. And then were in such a hurry that they had to jump in front NOW. And then were in no hurry to go anywhere.

Well I am talking about pulling up to a traffic light ahead that is clearly red. And even if it turned green, there is still traffic in the way so Im gonna have to stop no matter what I do. Then also on the highway, sea of brake lights ahead, I am going to slow down gradually rather than race up to it and come to a quick halt.
But yeah excessive use of brakes on back roads pisses me off to no end! Someone is already going too slow on the straight parts and then brakes around every minor turn as if they are driving with a trunk full of wine glasses filled to the brim. Or braking because they are lost. Or braking because they drive with two feet in an automatic on the street.
If I am pulling up to a turn, I am going to maintain maximum momentum no matter what car I am driving. In my Miata this is frightening because of how fast I am going. In other stuff, its frightening because screaming tires and understeer.

Yeah, I’ll be slowing down for that. For more than one reason... I’ll never get a smooth stop out of my truck otherwise. The drums on the back do drum things and have grabby patches. Though that being said, if I happen to be able to see the light going yellow I’ll probably coast rather than brake if I know the intersection well enough

Yup, coasting is always good. I often start coasting WAYYY in advance for the lights on the way to work. I know the timing well enough that I can just let off the gas like a half a mile out and make the light when it turns green. People are flying past me in the other lane just for me to catch up and usually pass them at the light as I am still moving.
