Working on a roof in line with the final approach path is great for plane spotting...

Kinja'd!!!

Although I have no idea what I’m looking at. My iPhone doesn’t do it justice, they are right on top of us.

Kinja'd!!!

Good thing I have ear plugs in, I’d be looking up all day.

Southwest airlines flies all Boeing 737 airplanes. I think this is a 737-700. Based off of the wingtips, I knew it had to be something newer.

Blended winglets are in production on 737 NG (-600 through -900) aircraft and are available for retrofit on 737 Classic models. The 737 MAX has scimitar winglets, and is also flown by SWA.

Punkgoose got it right. Those are Southwest 737s, the first in their older livery and the second in their latest livery. For the sake of commonality, SWA only flies 737s. Where did you take these?

You can ask Siri, “what planes are above me right now?” and she’ll tell ya.

My brother told me about that, but they are likely less than 1,000 feet and when I tried that it only showed up with planes at altitude.

SWA 737 NG Series 700 and 800. We ditched the last of the 300s end of September so now it’s all nicer NG and new max8 planes, which just started in October. We also just announced Hawaii service starting sometime later in 18. So enjoy the show above. STL is a nicely busy place for us.

The winglets are blended and also double scimitar style with a second pair pointing down on some -800s.
