Next step is back up on the a-frames, stitch the box section up i’ve cut to make some exhaust clearance and strip all the underseal off ready for sandblasting :) Also, shifting the engine back has paid dividends. Previously i’d have had to drop the intake manifolds level to clear the bonnet, but now they fit just fine :)

What’s shifting the engine back done to the weight distribution? I assume an inch or two isn’t enough to make it front-mid-engined.

But come to think of it, just weld in a bit more steel to the front section of the chassis, move the steering and suspension forward a few more inches, and it will be mid-engined.

Only good things I think :) it was roughly 52-53% front from what I’d worked out before, and shifting it back will probably wind up sorting another percent or so as it’s not just the engine but the gearbox and all the ancillaries that move back too.

Depending on your definition it was already front-mid (centreline of the engine behind the front wheels), although that’s not usually the one I go for for front-mid stuff. Not far from though. Another 3" would do it ;) would require basically cutting the chassis in half to sort to clear the gearbox which I’m not so keen on...
