I saw it almost immediately after Blade Runner: Final Cut. Best movie I’ve seen this year.

Is that out now? I’d love to go see it, but not with my wife. She wouldn’t appreciate it.

Actually, I’m kind of apprehensive about it. I liked to imagine that Deckard and Rachael lived happily ever after, and I am afraid of anything shattering that fragile fantasy.

I fell asleep twice trying to finish the original back in the day, slow and long as well? I love sci fi, I watch it all, but something about Blade Runner...

I would not call this movie short by any means, but it makes up for it by the stunning visuals and shocking soundtrack that both keep you engaged. I’d say you need to brush up on your Blade Runner lore first.

The most boring cinematic masterpiece in years.

The cinematography is amazing. The world is starkly beautiful, the sound is awesome, the soundtrack perfect. But there’s so many masturbatory long establishing shots where nothing really happens and the story is just...okay. Leto’s character is so pointless it’s frustrating.

Hopefully you didn’t watch The Force Awakens, then. Talk about shattering a happily ever after ending...

Leto’s character didn’t bother me that much, but all of his scenes could have been cut and the movie would have been paced a little better for it. There’s no need to know who Luv works for, and the idea of an evil, faceless corporation works even better when it’s, you know, faceless.

The movie was too long, but I think the pacing was just right. The more I can stare at Roger Deakins cinematography, the better.

I was lucky enough to see the Final Cut at a theater the week before seeing 2049. It was a treat.

Loved the new one, too. Since it was a little too long, maybe there can be 50 different cuts of it that we can argue over until the actual year 2049.

Leto’s character was needlessly weird. It might have been better if it wasn’t Leto, but it felt very much like his scenes were just “hey look, there’s this weird dude doing weird things”. I think your point about an evil faceless corporation is right on the money, and it’s even worse than just having a face because the “birth” scene I think gives too much motivation to the events of the movie. It takes away what could have added an additional layer of mystery and confusion.

That bothered me. The whole plot bothered me. Three out 7 Star Wars movies to that point were about destroying a Death Star. Getting tired of that.
