Just 20 days ago this was the temperature as I left work. This morning it was 45º. Weather girl was warning us tonight about the cold fronts coming in the next couple of weeks. Its been a long time since I’ve seen kids Trick-or-Treat in winter coats.
For those wondering about the MP3, I was playing SD cards in the Audi RS-E unit. Not sure if that was Zeppelin or Sly and the Family Stone.

Clearly you’re not in Colorado. Winter coats on Halloween, but probably shorts and flip-flops on Christmas.

Ohio. Last 5-6 halloweens haven’t been too bad. In past 20 I do recall a couple with flurries. If it starts like they say it might we could have a White Christmas. The local kids are so nuts they still can be seen outside in shorts and flip flops, just not for long.

Parts Challenge: GM parts number for the pedal pads, brake and clutch, for the ‘71 Vandura. Mine are worn clear through. The brakes are not vacuum-assisted, so lots more pressure.
But the good news is, two-channel brakes, right? Just not vacuum-assisted.

Ebrake pad is OE 25506817 , there are Dorman copies on ebay and Rockauto #20739. Clutch and brake pads are same, OE are discontinued , old # 3978879. Dorman makes those too , part # 20712 . Also on Rockauto. All are about $3-4 each.

I had a little bit of a debate with the crusty old guy who is counseling me on Rusty. He said that if I wanted to add a vacuum assist, I could increase the capacity of the brakes. I tend to be pedantic about it and thing that I might increase the capacity of the driver to apply the brakes, but without replacing the brake system components, the only capacity difference would be the buffness of the driver’s thigh.

Adding a brake booster would shorten the braking distance and lessen pedal effort. I’d suggest new pads, rotors, calipers, rear cylinders and shoes before you do that. The extra oomph might be enough to make those old 1971 components fail. Better safe than sorry.

I think all of the components are relatively new, as in maybe two years old and essentially zero miles.
Do you have any experience with after market fuel cells? My van has a giant tin gas tank hanging right in front of the back bumper like a pair of truck nuts. I worry how safe that might not be.

Dave, I’d like to replace the rubber seal around the engine cover on Rusty. I’ve looked pretty hard online, and I can’t turn up anything that looks right. The weatherstrip is D-shaped and about 1/2-inch wide. Any suggestions?

It looks like the only door weatherstripping that LMC sells has clips on it. Would the clips preclude me from installing that stripping?
