RIP to the Chevy SS and related fam (Commodore, Caprice). I just so happen to come across a fine example of a newer Chevy SS today and I figure I’d post it...(excuse the potato quality)

I’m really thinking these were produced solely for the PPV Caprice contract and some stipulation said there had to be civilian versions available. Thus the SS.

My boss drove his today. It’s nice, but for the price I’d rather have a 2nd gen CTS-V.

Where did all the PPV’s end up? I’ve seen exactly one. Police cars down here are generally a mix of Explorers, F-150’s, Mustangs, and Tahoe’s with some Crown Vic’s that haven’t been retired and the occasional Charger. New police sedans aren’t really a thing where I live and the few that have been bought since the Crown Vic was retired seem to be Chargers.

As a matter of fact, our county sheriff has a few Caprice PPV in their fleet. Its a mix of Explorers, Tahoes, Caprices and the older 9th gen Impala.

The police department uses a mix of everything except Caprices.
