I went for a quick ride in one of these.

I hope so. A slow ride would be no fun at all. How did you like it?

I got to drive a P85 a few months back. 600 hp is difficult to forget.

Nice automobile, only got to experience one good zip up to 99 kph, which is exactly what you’ve heard, instant acceleration enough to set your eyeballs back an inch further into your head, it’s that fast. got to see autopilot too. Pretty cool. And then it was over. All I did was ask about the car and the owner, a super cool guy, was like “got a minute, let’s go for a rip!”. The car seemed well put together. And then I had to get back to work, but it was a noteworthy 5 minutes.

They’re nice looking cars in profile, but I struggle with the Tesla Snout where there should be a grill...

I have my brother-in-law’s Ford Fusion hybrid for a couple of weeks. It’s a heavy car that Dutch rolls — wobbles side to side — when it’s going down the freeway. I remain to be convinced that manufacturing and driving a hybrid car is a net gain for the planet. And, like Rusty my 1971 GMC van, how many of these cars will be around in 46 years? And what land fill will be accepting their worn-out batteries?

Just incredible. It changes everything. I already knew that, but in the flesh is different. Now that I’ve been in a Tesla, your car is now going to have to run in the 11s to impress me.

It takes a lot to impress me, and not necessarily a lot of car. But 600 HP is an unforgettable experience, unless, I suppose, you get to experience 1,500 hp...

I got an extended test drive in a P100d. Lordy. I pulled up in a last en E550 Cabriolet and the test drive went from an exit down and back to the dealer, too 2 exits down then some county roads all the way back.

Cool. I’ve heard knocks on their fit and finish, but the only poor quality thing I experienced was hard seats.

Drove a P90D. Holy shit.

I drove a 90D and only managed to get to 3/4 throttle before I ran out of road, in the traffic I was in.

Holy damn does that car move.

That sucks that the hybrid drives that way. I had the Eco Boost version as a rental from Enterprise and thought it was surprisingly composed. And it was a rental so I was definitely thorough with it.

They could definitely improve the seats. I sat in both the base seats and the upgraded option and the upgraded option was better but not great.

I got to drive a P90D about a year ago it was seriously impressive. I used the autopilot a bit, too, and I remember thinking, “this is exactly perfect for my wife’s ~100 mile round trip commute, on mostly light traffic highway.” It’s exactly the boring highway stretches where the autopilot would work well and be the safest.

And wow it was fast.

10 minutes in that car was almost enough to put a deposit on a Model 3, but I couldn’t quite get over the complete and utter lack of access to a dealer with a totally unproven, new model from a totally new manufacturer. We’re 120 miles one way from a Tesla shop.

Lol: thorough... I thoroughly parked my BIL’s car on the curb and I’ll thoroughly not touch it while it sits here (He’s in Hawai’i.).

It’s a good looking car, yes, but in kind a vanilla way, you know?

Yes, when all is said and done, I’m not sure they’re that much better for the environment right now, especially when my area gets a lot of its power from coal, but there you go.

What it would be is good for my wallet and convenience. I could plug it in every evening and have it charge that way instead of having to go to a filling station.
