You may of seen news about yellow skies or red skies over parts of the U.K. in the lead up to Storm Ophelia.

The storm had gathered some Saharan sand particles that in large amounts gives a post apocalyptic image of the world.

Kinja'd!!!

This sand dust coats everything and can be very abrasive to car paint.

So out came the snow foam lance to prewash and cars and then give them a good wash and protection.

You’re quite possibly the only person I’ve ever heard of that washes his or her car before a storm, knowing that a storm is coming.

Lol. Erm, it was after the storm. The storm was Monday into Monday night/early Tuesday morning where I am.

Lol. I have been known to do it though. Hell I’ve been known to clean a car during a storm

That is awesome! I love the social media Ireland had of the storm. So freaking hilarious!

Ireland took the brunt of it about half a day before it hit us. It hit Ireland going up into Northern Ireland and then the north west coast of England and then into Scotland.

I think generally media coverage of storms is stupid.

All those media outlets going,

“hey, there’s a storm on it’s way. Get a camera crew, fly them out to stand in front of the storm in hurricane winds and driving rain and flood waters”.

Why?

Sorry my bad. I missed that.

I didn’t see anything on social media.

I knew the cars would have to get Svended after the storm!

Do your neighbours get friendly rates?

Lol. I don’t charge. There is a standing agreement with my neighbours that if you park 10-20 metres either side of my front door and your car is dirty, there may be a point in the day that I knock on your door and ask for you car keys.

I was talking with the guy who owns the EOS and organising what cr his daughter was getting and what will need doing when it arrives.

There was a guy called Flaherty who was 72 who likes to swim in the sea on the news. When asked about why he was swimming in the sea. He replied, ‘I like swimming in the sea, it’s safe as long as you don’t panic...’, he then went on to say panic about five or six times over the next minute or so.

Why was that news?

U.K. news tends to go and speak to local people to give the viewers an idea of the feeling of local people. Some are funny, some tearful and some are just ‘who dresses you’ sort of people.

He was busy talking with several news outlets.

Weird is when they talk to Americans, the insane stuff you guys and gals say is a mixture of ‘WTF’, ‘oh my god, how high are they?’, ‘wow, that’s over dramatic’, etc...

Do you have an example? Because that swimming thing just seemed unnecessary, like the news anchors could have just told everyone there was a red flag warning and gone about their day with news.

In the U.K. and Ireland we have the same sort of sense of humour that many other countries don’t get.

There is always someone who is a little different either quirky to blatantly odd.

I can’t think of any specific ones off the top of my head. Russell Howard used to show several on his show Russell Howard’s Good News. Of American news anchors speaking with bystanders.

BRB: Gone to watch some YouTube clips of Russell Howard’s Good News.

Hey Svend, do you have any experience with the hard ceramic paint treatments, or are you strictly a detailing kind of guy? I recently purchased an RS and am looking into how to keep the shiny gray paint staying shiny and gray.

I’ve experience of various coatings yes.

Unfortunately not having anywhere indoors to work means coatings are very precarious and don’t really do them anymore as the weather and lack of indoor work area means too many variables for it to go wrong.

What sort of protection are you looking for? The likes of Gtechniq C1+ and CSL (Crystal Serum light) both offer a good degree of scratch protection and chemical resistance, highly durable and can be topped with other products.

I like British humor more than most US humor. It is dry and not usually just stupid crap.

We have a strange humour, unless your on our wavelength it can take a bit to catch up. We make fun out of tragedy or rather the cause of the tragedy because if you can laugh at it, you can’t be scared of it, which someone not used to our sense of humour could find offensive or insulting. We like to make fun of others and ourselves because we know we aren’t the best at everything, we know we aren’t the greatest and acknowledge out flaws. We will sometimes introduce our friends to others as dickheads, ‘hey have to met my friend Tony? he’s a pure dickhead sometimes but you get used to him’.

Was looking at CQuartz. Figured I’d have to get a popup car shelter to put it on, especially not that it’s fall. trees are shedding, lol.

If you can blag a friend to letting you use their garage or similar space for a couple of days it will pay dividends.

Make sure you know exactly how to apply the coating and curing times before you start.
