Picked this up yesterday after having a 2 week battle with Nationwide (loans) over a stupid mistake they made. Its an 07 with 87K miles. It has all aftermarket charge pipes, intake, a big ol’ front mount, some exhaust mods, 2 poly motor mounts and the rest look brand new. I believe the Turbo Control Valve is aftermarket as well. Im still learning this car so there is probably other stuff as well. AAAANNNNNDDDD Kinja’d, cant post pictures.

Edit: Its a 6sp manual, and it has a Haldex AWD system.

I went a bit overboard with stickers on the MINI, so Im planning on not putting any on this.

Nice. Everybody’s getting Volvos around here (I went with a 2.5T, wasn’t feeling bold enough to look at the S60R).

Pretty cool! I have never ever driven one of these. I knew someone who raved about his and I always thought the shifter was pretty cool. I also think the styling is that perfect mix of subtle and classy. This is up there with the E39 in terms of timeless styling as far as I’m concerned.

Any plans for the near future?

Nice! Manual? Guesses on how much power it makes?

Yeah 6 speed manual. Stock they are like 300hp, 293 torque. From what Ive seen on the forums when people do these specific mods they get a tune like 80% of the time, that would make a big difference on the actual power numbers. I honestly have no idea. I went from a ‘90 Miata, to an ‘02 MINI Cooper to this, which is 1000lbs more than the MINI.

Fix a few small things, and probably leave it mostly alone.

Congrats! Looked all over for one of these with the 6 speed, but ended up with it’s Japanese cousin, the Legacy GT. Front mount isn’t too obnoxious, I like it. Does it need any work?

Looked like neat stuff, but come on. It isn’t that hard to make a decent site these days. Like $40 to a college student.

Maybe. No way to know honestly. The car is in super nice condition, and the shop replaced the timing belt and water pump for me.

There is a few broken trim pieces and a couple small things like that. The shop I purchased it from did the timing belt and water pump for me. 1 or 2 small things Id like to replace, and it needs an AUX cable.

With the intake, exhaust and bigger fmic, I wouldn’t be surprised if it has a tune as well. The interior color is Nordkapp. Looks like fun!

Welcome to the R family. Looks like a nice car and well taken care of. Your interior color is called Nordkap. I’d recommend joining the Swedespeed forum and getting yourself a DICE/VIDA setup. These cars can’t be diagnosed correctly with a typical OBD reader.

Kinja'd!!! "DarrenMR" (darrenmr)
10/18/2017 at 11:28, STARS: 0

Yeah Im thinking it may have a tune but Idk how to be sure. I can never remember Nordkapp. Its been a blast to drive so far.

Easiest way to tell would be to temporarily hook up a boost gauge and see where it hits at WOT. A quick Google search says 13.5 psi stock.

I bet you could post it up on swedespeed.com and figure out who the previous owner was as well.

10/18/2017 at 11:47, STARS: 0

That’s how I felt. With how often Bluetooth standards change I didn’t want to deal with pulling the unit out for firmware updates. Also, I didn’t feel like twice the cost would give me twice the experience.

Kinja'd!!! "DarrenMR" (darrenmr)
10/18/2017 at 11:53, STARS: 0

It has an IPd gauge already. It his about 15 then drops down to around 13/14.

I just ordered the $60 aux unit. Watched a youtube video about removing the radio and HVAC stuff, seems pretty simple.

It’s definitely much easier than I would have guessed. The climate control module is kinda of unwieldy, fyi. Supposedly, you cannot unplug it while the battery is hooked up. At a later point I put a female AUX jack next to the 12V socket for that “factory” look.

Kinja'd!!! "Sovande" (sovande)
10/18/2017 at 12:29, STARS: 0

I have had bad luck with those gauges, FYI. I use a $30 VDO gauge instead. I bet if you post those numbers someone will be able to tell you where you should be boost-wise.

It’s a pretty car! Good luck with everything. The guys on that site can be a bit over the top sometimes, but there is a ton of knowledge. I am jealous of your AWD. Trying to put 315hp and 375 lb-ft can be tough with FWD.

The TCV is stock - Pierburg is the OEM. They are good units and most tuners won’t tune your car with anything else.

Getting everything back in after installing the Grom BT3 was the toughest part to me. It did not want to go.

The Grom installation videos I watched didn’t have any problem as long as the ignition was off when the harnesses were disconnected. I’m not sure how much I would trust that though. I just did the whole installation without disconnecting anything.

There is a couple of blanks there next to the headrest button and stuff. I was going to stick a female there.

10/18/2017 at 12:39, STARS: 0

Yeah Ive looked at a few of the tunes and they all say they want that TCV. I figured it was an aftermarket OEM replacement.

The gauge pod is one of the ugliest things Ive ever seen. On top of that its rubbing itself against the windshield and its scuffed the paint off. Its so obvious and gross.

I thought about using a blank but the socket I purchased was too large. Just so you know, all the blanks are not actually blank behind the cover. I had to be very careful when drilling the hole. The whole panel is designed to hold six or seven buttons and is prewired regardless of the buttons/blanks/blank space you currently have.

It might not have a tune, in that case. Stock boost is around 15.
