Wild turkeys can fly. Domesticated turkeys are bred to be (literally) too fat and too dumb to fly.

Still one of the funniest episodes of television I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if it would hold up but the first time I watched it I laughed so hard I was crying.

My local radio station (WXRT, another shameless plug for the finest station on the planet), replays that (in bits) for Thanksgiving every year. Even without video, it’s one of all time great sitcom episodes.

I nearly hit a wild one in my truck flying at windshield level about a decade ago. Some poo came out.

Nice reference to Herb Morrison...

Les Nessman was the consummate reporter, a throwback to old school journalism, and a scholar of those who came before him. I wonder how many viewers got the reference, though.

Never seen that series so it caught me absolutely by surprise.

It also reminded me of the “cylinder opens” part of the War of the Worlds broadcast; it seems Welles studied very carefully Morrison’s harrowing account and used it as a guideline on how to play the scene.

The closing reference to Gone with the Wind is just the icing on the cake.

I was being a little tongue and cheek with my description of Nessman. He certainly saw himself as the reincarnation of Edward R. Murrow.
