Stop it. You are making this really hard to not apply for an AUS tourist visa and go to Adelaide.

Really, dude, please stop. Going to the Holden plant and headquarters has always been a dream of mine, but now it’ll just be the headquarters for a company carrying rebadged Chevys.

If you’ve every been to Elizabeth Shopping Centre then you are unlikely to ever go back...

What ever, I mean almost all of the small cars, CUVs, and light trucks are global badge engineering crap.

When the only V8 cars you make are the Corvette, Camaro, and CTS-V then you are doing something very wrong. There is nothing fun and family man oriented there.

Pls the rest of those badges things are crap.

Go once, and then you don’t have to go back :)

We get neither the Corvette, Camaro or the CTS-V. And even if we did, none of them would be affordable to the average family man.

Same goes for pretty much any Holden or Ford V8 in the last five years...but especially the hi-po ones. One of the major reasons these things died is that Australians stopped buying them - there were cheaper and seemingly more practical alternatives.

I don’t mourn the demise of the Commodore, Falcon or even the Australian assembled Camry and Aurion. They were not cars I was ever really taken with. I do mourn the loss of engineering and manufacturing capability that their demise represents.

There is still a car industry here. It just doesn’t make cars. It designs and engineers vehicles for manufacture elsewhere. It designs and manufactures components and aftermarket products. It modifies and engineers world group vehicle platforms and chassis dynamics for Australian conditions. And it designs and manufactures vehicles for off road applications (mine sites etc.).

Tomorrow is a sad day. But, like the death of a beloved pet, it was inevitable. And we will quickly move on to another pet.
