Yeah, this really sucks. I’m sure entire thick books will be written about everything the automakers themselves and the government could have done differently to prevent this, but its all pointless now, the damage is already done.

Them empty carts behind are also sad looking.

This is probably one of the saddest pictures from a GM factory ever taken.

Doomed before it’s even fully born to become merely a museum exhibit. That’s no way to treat a car...

People love could’ve/might’ve/should’ve/maybe/didn’t speculation though, that crap sells by the bucket load.

I prefer to know what actually happened and then some informed speculation about what’s next.

Local production at Holden, Ford and Toyota was doomed even back in the late 90s...you could see it was inevitable based on the tiny scale (and therefore cost) of production, lack of export potential for the product, age of the production facilities and the wide open retail market.

The only hope was a return to CKD based assembly but the rise of world wide platforms and the family SUV pretty much killed that.

I am sad.... :(

Part of me is glad it is a Red Hot 2, because mine is the same color. The last GTO produced was also red.

I wonder how much it will go for at whatever charity auction they eventually sell it at.

We should start a Kickstarter to buy the tooling off GM and restart Zeta production in maybe China.

Does GM Canada still have the old Zeta tooling at Oshawa?

For the Camaro? Maybe, but they haven’t been producing the Camaro for almost 2 years now. Besides even though both Zeta, I would assume Camaro tooling to be significantly different than Commodores.

Just have to lengthen a few pieces for the Commodore or Statesman/Caprice. I mean, beyond that it’s just non-structural sheet metal differences :)

GM sells their last cars of their production line every foreclosure auction. Maybe in a few years they will be for sale.
