NFG tire as buffer image to represent the stupidity of the phone call I just had to make.

Kinja'd!!!

Just had to return a call to a customer. They were upset because the 190 pounds of material they ordered incurred 239 pounds of freight charges. I had to take an hour to gather myself after the first call since my head ran right into the wall of stupid and I actually blacked out for a moment during the first phone call. You ordered 190 pounds of material. It went on a skid, that’s another 30 pounds. It was packaged in cases, that’s another 5 pounds per case for the 3 full cases and roughly 2-3 pounds for the partial case. Add in another 2-3 or so pounds of stretch wrap, protective corners and miscellaneous packaging and estimate error and lets see what we get:

190 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 2 + 30 + 2 gets us to... an estimated 239 pounds for the pallet of material we shipped you. And you’re upset that there were freight charges for 239 pounds of freight.

Just wait until you have to explain dimensional weight to someone that’s never worked in the freight biz. That’s a head pounder of there ever was one.

Hello. I believe I just spoke with you about my shipment. I don’t appreciate you discussing our conversation on this blog. Also, I still don’t understand the part where I ordered 190 lbs of material and you charged me for 239 on shipment. If I wanted 239 lbs of material, that is what I would have ordered.

Also, I don’t think it’s april 1st, but you need a laugh. Chill fam. You can’t fix everyone.

Morons are everywhere man.

I had to schedule a pickup for a piece of equipment that failed under warranty. I asked them how it was packaged, they said same as it came in. So I schedule it, send them the BOL. It shows up 3days later, not only is it on a completely different pallet. But they didn’t even thing to somehow secure the equipment to the pallet. And someone decided to make their own BOL and write that it was 1000lbs even though the total weight originally was 200.

I had to buy some equipment for a company from Italy also. They only ship Exworks. So I set up the shipping and fill out the item description, Induction heater. Send all of it to the seller and DHL. It shows up and the customs invoice says spare parts for kitchen lol.

I’m unable to confirm whether or not I spoke with you regarding a shipment. It’s either our customer confidentiality policy or I blacked out again. Regardless, next time you order 190 pounds of material we will be sure that it does not get packaged, and that way you will only be billed freight charges on the material that you ordered.

BOL’s are hard man. We had a vendor ship us something freight collect. BOL was marked freight collect. Carrier invoice was marked freight collect, yet they sent the invoice to the vendor. I tell the vendor to send me the invoice and I’ll deal with it. They say “nope, carrier says you need to send the a letter of authorization to change the charges.” I call the carrier. They say: “You need to send us authorization to change the charges, and we will bill you $60 to correct the error.” Nope the fuck you will not charge me to correct your error. Carrier: “Yes, we’ll charge you, and then after you pay us we will work on crediting that charge back against future shipments.” LOLNOPE, there will be no future shipments with you.

We’re lucky. Our stuff is dense and relatively durable, so it goes Class 50.

Thank you. I don’t understand why your company can’t deliver 190 lbs of liquid without any sort of containers and just leave it under the door mat. Glad you finally came around. Have a good one

I’ve been dealing with trying to get a pallet delivered to a customer who very rarely answers the phone or responds to emails, and the local delivery depot who appear to have a loose concept of delivering on the days needed. It’s taken a month- this is a trip of about 100 miles(usually overnight)- but finally the cosmos aligned and it was delivered today.

We’re stopping residental pallet deliveries as it’s more hassle than it’s worth. Fortunately our parcel deliveries have an hour delivery slot so there are less problems with that.
