Why do I get so many flat tires? Why do I only get them when I’m in a rush? When I see nails or screws in the road I pick them up so others can avoid my fate. Why do the driving gods punish me in such a manner and with such frequency? Why won’t kinja let me post pictures from my phone anymore?

Do you live near a construction site? In my experience, those are the worst. No regard for tires. Nails and screws spilled and ignored on the regular.

Can confirm (I used to work in construction and got several flat tires).
A lot of those fasteners are packaged in cardboard boxes, which only last a trip or two before they start falling apart from the weight. Anything but delicate handling just makes it worse, if you don’t transfer the fasteners into buckets. And if I had a nickel for every time I saw other drivers not securing their loads...

My coworkers have seemingly no respect for tires either. Nails, staples, and all kinds of crap end up in the parking lot and nobody seems to care. Kid you not, I once found an entire box cutter blade in my tire. Who the F throws a box cutter blade in a parking lot?

I had one fly off a tow truck, bounce off my hood, and then smack my windshield. I was surprised. Had to go back to the dashcam to find out what it was.
