I just moved to town yesterday without knowing anyone, or having a house, or a job, lined up. Made the drive from Maine to here in ten days, in a 1952 pickup. If anyone is around for a beer it’d be great to meet you!

How was the drive in a 1952 pickup?! Is it mostly original, heavily modified? I can’t really fathom driving my ‘61 Ford pickup for 10 days straight at speeds over 50mph, so...

In a word, loud. It’s a Chevrolet, but with 1970s Ford internals— 1970 Mustang GT 302, Bronco four speed toploader and 9" rear end. Dynamat helps keep the sound down, as do Thrush mufflers. Seats more comfortable than the ones in my parents’ Volvo V60s.

Haha, yeah I was imagining loud, for one. It sounds like a good truck. Mine has no sound deadening at all, barely has a floormat even. And it’s not geared for the highway.
Still sounds like a great trip. What are your plans now?

Not in Flagstaff but I just recently moved to Ft Defiance on the Navajo Res, about 2.5 - 3 hours away which counts as fairly close out here, haha.

We stayed there a couple days last year - Flagstaff is nicer than I thought it would be. The Lowell Observatory is super cool, (we got to see Jupiter and the 4 big moons through the big 120 yo Clark Refractor scope.) The Crown Railroad Cafe is neat too - 66 kinds of omelets on route 66. Decent beer scene too.
