I was afraid that nail in my wife’s tire was too close to the sidewall to fix the tire, and it turns out it is. Looks like the Explorer needs four new tires since the ones on it are pretty close to worn out. Time to put the winter tires on it for now.

At least you won’t have a mismatched tire. When I’ve lost one and the others have significant wear left, I’ve had good luck with used tires.

I’m searching for tires to replace the atrocious factory Hankooks on the F-150. Just replaced a flat for the 8th time between the two trucks since 2015.

I found out this summer that changing a flat on a truck for the first time since you got it 6 years ago looks almost exactly like you’re trying to steal the spare since you’re crawling under the truck trying to break the lock out of the bumper so you can lower the spare since the lock has rusted solid and you can’t turn it with the key.

Winter tires have been required on most of the roads around here since the first of the month anyhow.

I usually put the winters on around mid November. We usually don’t get too much snow before then and it usually doesn’t stick around if we get any. Her car has all seasons, so it’s not the end of the world if it gets caught out by a little snow anyway.
