A rubber strap wrench. They have open many stubborn jars, & saved lots of cursing. I keep 2 in a kitchen drawer, for dedicated jar opening.

I have a razor blade or a giant oversized pocket knife I use for all sorts of things in my kitchen. Need to get to the tow hook and there is a plastic thing covering it, but it sticks? This knife will handle it! And then I use it to open that stubborn bag of pretzels or knock on a stuck lid of mayo.

In the other direction, I keep 2 of these Kitchen Jar openers in the garage.
Work great on plenty of things, especially slick surface oil filters.
