We had an amazing day of driving. Weather in the 80s. We started in farm country, traversing vineyards, orchards, cotton fields and dairies. We passed into the hills, winding our way through mountains and canyons where the ground is a mixture of grazing livestock and oil pumps. We passed through the mountains and through Monterey County to the coast. I took some pictures, but have not downloaded from my camera. I was lovely, and the Sunchaser drove like a champ.
But joy was not to be found in Shell Beach. When we arrived at The Cliffs resort, whose web site promised that pets were welcome, we were told we had to specifically request a pet room and they had nothing for us. Then they said they were going to charge us for the night anyway. My reaction was not pleasant, and they relented when I began dialing my credit card provider in front of the manager to challenge the charge.
We ended up at a humble beachside motel in Pismo that was 25% of the price, and the old lady who checked me in was a sweet and chill beach person. It isn’t fancy, but honestly it is better. We went to dinner and met a couple who runs a family construction business, and Toby made friends with their dog. It all worked out beautifully.
Took a walk from the hotel, and am having a Modelo.

I took a look at their website cause I too was incredulous that they wouldn’t advertise it clearly, but it is written on their “Furry Friends” page. It is a couple paragraphs down, and easy to miss, but nevertheless, it is there.
Maybe its new and it wasn’t there before, though.
