I don’t get the love for the Twingo.
The internet hard-on for the Miata doesn’t make me want to drive one, and kind of turns me off from it. Kind of like Rick and Morty fans, or Doctor Who fans.
I like post lists in groups of three, so I guess here’s a Prius. I wouldn’t have minded one for a work car.

I like how happy the twingo looks but don’t know anything besides that because I’m in the U.S. and will probably never have one. I daily drove my brothers 1991 Miata for a couple weeks and hated it. I’m 6’3” so it was way to small for me and I couldn’t turn the wheel easily because my legs touched the wheel. I think they could be fun if you fit but I don’t really like convertibles and think they get way more love than they deserve. I used to hate the Prius but I don’t really care anymore. If they are efficient than that’s fine. I think they are becoming less of a symbol than they used to be and instead are just another car at this point. I wouldn’t buy one but could drive one without a problem.

I don’t get the love for the Twingo either.
The thing with the Miata (having owned two) is it’s cheap, it’s RWD, the short wheelbase and modest power means the drifers have ignored it, and it’s fun to beat the shit out of. The problem is that when the internet likes something, especially when it’s unfairly hated by a large part of the population (which applies to the Miata, with the gay/hairdresser stereotypes), it blows it way the fuck out of proportion, and ignores the bad parts.
And, the Miata certainly has its bad parts. Noisy as fuck on the highway, older ones are really unrefined (because they basically applied cosmetic refreshes to the 80s second-tier Japanese econobox partsbin that Mazda was drawing from, all the way through 2005), visibility is restricted for tall people, some years have torture device seats, the powertrain wasn’t exactly thermally efficient, it doesn’t like to be driven gently...
The new Prius is good. Good enough that I found I was never driving my Miata, and sold it. (Part of the reason was that on my commute, my Miata would get about 22 MPG, whereas my Prius gets over 50 easily.)

I knew a guy over 15 years ago in Holland who had a Twingo. He’d make the thing dance. It’s a small, quirky throw able car.
I mean look at it.
There’s nothing on it that isn’t needed.
The interior is minimalist while still being comfortable for long periods.
I think the love from many is the fact it’s not available to them.

I think its because of the Twingo’s timeless styling and classic French quirks. It was one of the last small, cheap cars that was truly classless and contemporary enough (read, not retro) to be built for years and years without dating.

The Twingo is France’s Kia Rio. It’s crap... As a passenger, with different drivers, I’ve been involved in 3 car accidents. All 3 involved Twingos. I’ve learned to dislike them and the stereotypical people who drive them... (Some have no choice, I understand that...)
But Americans have a massive ”can’t get it” syndrome. If they can’t get, it must be awesome!
