And I’m not ashamed. I love low-slung sports cars, and rugged utility vehicles, but in the “real world” - especially when spending nearly 2 hours a day commuting - this vehicle is superior.

It’s a tall, front-wheel-drive hatchback that shares its platform with the Opel Corsa D, Fiat Doblo, Argo, 500L and 500X, and a few others. It wears a Jeep suit. I don’t care if it’s not a “Real Jeep.” It serves our purposes and has enough room for my wife, our dogs, and me. It averages 27 mpg and the roofs come out. It also desperately needs a baff.

Some men don’t need to compensate.

But please don’t stick it out, we don’t need to see it, we will take your word. And as always the wrinkles will fall out.

I drive a Chevy Sonic as a work vehicle. To most people, it’s a cheap econobox. Personally, I quite like it. Fuel mileage is decent for city driving, it’s roomy enough, and the sound system is pretty decent. Makes me realize that as long as you’re happy with what you drive, it doesn’t matter what others think.

I really like the sonic. I’ve mostly comfortably sat in the back seat with my wife and a friend for 3 hr road trips before and I really had no complaints. I’m 6ft and 220 lbs. I couldn’t have done that in a fiesta.

I want a Mazda CX-5. My mom got one and I love it. For what I actually need it would be perfect.

Yup. I rented one once, and it was actually pretty fun to drive. I have seen manual CX5s on Autotrader for under $10k.

Same here, it’s a Versa on stilts with great turbo engine & manual.

Agree with the sentiment, just not so much on the car it’s based on. The Corsa is at the bottom of the barrel as far as cars in Europe go.

But given that there’s not much subcompact choice in the states anyway, I can’t fault you too much. There are better platforms out there, but good to know it’s serving you well.

I would be interested in your experience with the renegade, part of me wants one over a Kia soul but the FCAness scares me.

I used to have the most compact crossover on the market a 2010 AWD SX4 6 speed. I really loved that car. The only reason I didn’t by another one to replace it when I totalled it was my little family outgrew it. We were suppose to replace my wife’s car with a 7 passenger, but getting a check for 30000$ Cnd from my insurance made us use that money on my 2014 pathfinder.

After driving the pathfinder for 2 years I still wanted a SX4, but then I went to try one that was for sale. It felt so tiny and had a problem with its Trany.

They aren’t too shabby offroad either. We took my friend’s out a few weeks ago and it did great.

I think that class of car would be well suited to daily diver duty. I drive 2 hours a day for work and class and bought my corolla for daily duty because it is more affordable, dependable and cheaper to run than the other alternative I could have purchased (example e36). Sometimes you need the car to be just a good car instead of extremely exciting. I knew I would need a good reliable daily until at least after I finished college so that’s what I bought.

If I recall, though, your friend has a Trailhawk. Ours is a sport 2wd - with the 1.4t/6m

It’s not as capable off road. But it can eat up miles.

I rented a red trail hawk Renegade once several months back I liked it but my only complaint is that they should’ve given it wider wheels.
