Kinja'd!!!

I passed through the dealer showroom, while Mrs. Grind’s RAV gets oils changed, and met this fat piece of fat on the floor.

What in God’s name is a ‘Coupe High-Rider’? Aparently this thing, the C-HR. Have we sprouted so many CUV’s than we now have to lift a sedan to see over the road bloatings we’ve stupidly created?

I opened the door not out of wonder, well, okay, yes out of wonder how people in the back seat could see our of such tiny windows and found my old 2008 Mazda3 sized cabin.

Can’t see out of it. Holds nothing more than a corolla. My opinion: it checks all the boxes of a fucking waste of space, and all the boxes of an emotionally stunted wife that won’t get caught dead in a corolla or ‘soccer mom’ suv.

Aparently there’s now focus group results showing sick increases in perceived image that it’s profitable to cater to it. Worried about validating judgement? Get one of these!

I haaaate it.

i still cant figure out if i like or hate the look of it..... its interesting looking

(interior wise and as a car.. i hate the thing... just like the smallest lexus suv a mate of mine has.... looks big on the outside... cramped on the inside... but my overweight ass is used to driving 80s/early 90s metal and feels that way about most modern cars)

All these micro CUV’s are sooooo stupid! And the Honda and Toyota are the worst because of sloping roof they offer no more utility than a sedan with a cavernous trunk, or just using the back seat.

I will never wonder why people buy these wasteful hunks of crap when they can save a ton of money buying a sedan and having more utility while costing less upon initial purchase, probably costing less to insure, being safer, and also using less fuel.

Thankfully, I have seen very few of these on the road. Maybe we’ll finally hit the point of one CUV too many.

The perception of excitement and aggression is one Toyota is shamelessly courting, and the target demographic for these probably shouldn’t be encouraged to act it out.

I think the bold bloggermommies in my area prefer the RX/NX and MDX/RDX (and a few Euro equivalents). That could be it.

It looks like they took a current generation RAV4 and said “yes, this is really terrible, but I KNOW we can make it worse!”

Also, car companies: when your car has greater than 2 doors IT’S NOT A FUCKING COUPE.

I do like the styling if it was just an honest little hatchback, like a yaris successor or something.

I’d say it’s actually worse. Just because it’s continuing a trend that should have died with the Juke

The fact that these share the showroom floor with the FRS* just makes it even sadder.

*I’m assuming by now that Toyota dealers have resorted to using the FRS as a credenza on which to display brochures for their crossover models, and maybe put a self-serve coffee station on the spoiler.

I saw quite a few of these in Japan - I thought they looked alright in person.

My only gripe with it is that it’s a very weird niche (that I think will be successful); if you want something small and economical, you get a Yaris or Corolla. If you want a real coupe, you get the 86. If you want a small SUV, you get the RAV4.

Like the Juke, this is pretty much for people that have decided practicality is not a concern and want something weird. At least the Juke gave you decent power and torque vectoring at the highest trim level. However, I guess the C-HR is meant to compete with that Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3.
