It’s exciting, but the only thing I’m not excited for is how Netflix does a full season dump. GoT has a sort of hype generator by releasing an episode a week.. off season builds hype, dot it with trailers and sneak peaks, hype is building, season premiere BOOM.... Now we have to wait a week. We got a taste, now we want more and are hungry, ravenous even to know what comes next.
Stranger Things and Netflix.... Hype builds, couple of trailers and sneak peeks.... Here you go, have it all. The entire season ? Yeah there it is. Oh... Okay..
Remember when there was a divide between the GoT tv watchers and book readers? The book readers knew and were waiting for the TV crew to catch up to discuss. There’s no weeks of discussion or hypothesising.
With Netflix it’ll be the binge watchers and the casual viewers. Quite frankly I’m going to stretch it out. I actually watched the first season with my parents after Sunday dinner so we’d do 1-3 episodes. It left plenty of “what happens next?” moments but was just enough pacing. (we did Breaking Bad the same way too- that took a while but the gaps made it sit, simmer and so much more enjoyable).
