I still have one flight booked on a 747, at the end of the year. It’s such an iconic and recognisable plane, that I’m sure everybody is going to miss it.

(I just checked, KLM is going to keep using some of them till 2020, but is also starting to retire them)

Yeah, the A380 may be bigger, but the 747 is a better looking airplane. I’ve flown on a KLM 747 - a combi from LAX-AMS. Was a great flight, though the combi is strange - it is so wide, but the cabin seems so short!

I miss the days when A&E was effectively the Bill Kurtis channel, with occasional reruns of Leonard Nimoy’s In Search Of.

I have flown on a 747 Combi too, from AMS to YYZ (I honestly don’t know why Toronto is called that), which was a great flight too. Haven’t noticed the shortness of the cabin though, as I had an unexpected bump to business class, which put me on the upper deck. But they are great planes, way more unique looking than the A380.
