Here are the results from the survey I ran 2 weeks ago about interest in the new batch of racing games that have come out. Also, shout out to the person who completed the survey as me from the future lol.

Forza 7 was definitely the game with the most overall interest. The majority of people already had the game or have plans to buy it.

There was still a good amount of interest in Project Cars 2, but a lot more people were uncertain about it or have no plans to buy it.

Unfortunately, Gran Turismo Sport has very little interest. Which isn’t too surprising when comparing what systems people are playing on.

The vast majority of people are playing on Xbox One, which I expected since during the past 5 years I’ve been on Oppo I’ve seen many more posts about Xbox related stuff than PS4 or even PC.

In terms of events, the most popular options were organized series and one-off events, so me and anyone else running series will keep doing what we’re doing. For the random unscheduled stuff, just keep an eye out for posts on Oppo or more likely Digital Burnouts .

And if you are interested in racing, also make sure to check out r/redditracing as they are also running fun racing series. Currently they are running V8 Supercars in Forza 6 as well as Spec Miata in Forza 7.

Here are your ideas for future events. You all kind of had your own ideas, but there were some that overlapped. Project Cars 2 GT3 showed up a few times, and it just so happens TheCowmaster is running a 2.5 hour GT3 race tomorrow at 4 PM EST. I would definitely expect more races like it in the future though. LMP and GT was also popular, and I can absolutely guarantee that that will happen at some point, and probably as a full series. There were also some ideas to bring back Trans Am. I can say that the idea I’m working on now will incorporate Trans Am cars, as well as many other 1960s GT and sportscars. And there was a lot of interest in last man and crapcan style racing. And I have to agree that we need a Shitpost Grand Prix. I might have to finally make that happen...

So, the ongoing Can-Am Championship . Half of you just want me to call it off. However, out of those people, only one person has raced and/or shown interest in the series. Given that and the fact there are only 3 rounds left, I’m going to try and finish it out, with the last round falling sometime before Thanksgiving. For those of you who haven’t raced, I highly encourage you to do so. Even with low turnout there has been great racing all around.

In terms of where to finish out the series, I’m not sure yet. I can definitely say that round 6 will be on Forza 6, so if you want to give Forza 6 a sendoff before swapping completely to Forza 7, it will definitely be a fun race. After round 6, there is a distinct possibility I will move the series to Forza 7. r/redditracing’s Spec Miata series has shown there is a large following for Forza 7 at the moment, so it would make sense to move it to revive interest. However, that is dependent on me getting all of the series’ cars and BoP testing them in 7, which may or may not be able to happen in a reasonable time frame. If the series does make the jump, I’ll announce it here on Oppo so keep an eye out for that.

I regret voting for Forza 7 over GT Sport.

Even the GTS Beta is beating FM7 in my eyes right now. T10 really dropped the ball.

The problem with Forza 7 is that its gameplay is great but everything else is poor decision making and a complete lack of new content. Its the perfect example of over promise.

Too bad most people don’t play on PS4. I’m sure there will be GT Sport leagues though. Just not here probably.

I will probably try to get another Team Oppo/DB endurance team together for the 2018 iRacing Daytona 24 and other events if there is interest. That is if I ever have any weekends.

I would also be willing to host one off races for the Oppo/DB and iR community, last time we had 23 Miatas race at Lime Rock and during practice had 60 Miatas on track at once.

I don’t have a real PC setup. I have a dual core i7 with a laptop GeForce and it works just fine. Up until 32-bit was phased out I ran with a dual core AMD with a Radeon 7600.

I can run iRacing at 60 FPS with few cars and ~20 in pack (average about 30-40). It is not the best, but I don’t feel like I have a significant disadvantage. Then I tried the Forza Horizon 3 Demo, it went very badly, it was unplayable... Someday I will get a real PC too...

Dangit, I was too late to offer my vote for GT Sport.

I really would love to be apart of a league for that game. Seems everyone around me now has Xbox over PS4 nowadays, and even the friends I have that do play PS4 don’t own racing games in general.

Maybe you won’t need a real PC...but I’m not sure.

The latest 8th gen Intel processors for laptops that previously had the low power, dual core i7s now have 4 cores and 8 threads, with the same, low, power consumption, a lower base clock speed but the same or similar turbo boost speed.

How do you get iRacing to work on a MacBook Air?

According to the iRacing website , it looks like you need to install a Boot Camp Utility and have a Windows install.

They used to support Mac OS, but it looks like since the shift to dynamic tracks and DX11, they have stopped development on it. I poked through the forums and people (within the past 6 months) have said that the boot camp method works.
