...to $1800/mo. Honk if your mortgage payment is less than medical insurance premium. Mine is. Thankfully, President Trump and Congress are on the job to fix the Affordable Care Act.

And a Troll for your time.

wow 1800 / month ..

I hope it’s for family. And you pay for your own insurance (small business / contractor).

Obamacare raised the family premiums for our business from $850/mo to $1650/mo. To make up for the increased premiums we get less coverage. To make up for the reduction in coverage our out of pocket costs are higher. Obamacare is awesome, I love it.

Its really shitty trying to explain to your employees that they just got a $9600/year raise, even though they don’t see shit from it and their medical costs just saw a massive increase even though they pay 0% of the premiums.

Honk (twice).

$1800 would cover two months of my mortgage, with an additional $330 or so left over at the end.

How bad is your deductible? $1800/mo is absolutely criminal.

It’s lovely. It strikes me that somehow, costs need to be reduced. I’m paying all of that money so that I can get three visits per year at $70 copay and pay for everything else after that.

Big deductible. I live in an expensive California county, but that’s beside the point. It’s the cheapest Obamacare plan available to me.

Remind me never to complain again. I pay something like $550 for family coverage. It’s and HMO, but a pretty good one that we’ve been happy with.

That’s more than my mortgage, truck, and bike.

But on the plus side, think of all of the people that your premiums are helping that wouldn’t have had coverage pre-ACA!

Does this rate increase have anything to do with the bomb that Trump threw into the ACA yesterday?

Paying 25% of my income to something I never use? Thanks Obama!

Why do people think we need to be mandated to buy health insurance. The government is forcing people to buy a private organization’s product? It makes no sense. Insurance companies were filthy rich before law required people to buy their insurance, and now that young, healthy people have to forcibly feed these giant corporations money, they’re even richer.

You don’t win or gain money from buying insurance. If you did, insurance companies would go bankrupt. You don’t win money playing the casino, otherwise the casino would go bankrupt. Insurance and casinos are the exact same thing, the house always wins. They have machines programmed to have the odds in their favor - they hire underwriters to make sure your premiums make them money and you end up with less than you’ll ever receive.

Why are we forced to play this game?

If I can believe what I read in the WSJ, then possibly, as I read there that providers have raised rates due to uncertainty about bombs that POTUS might throw.

I don’t disagree with a word of what you’ve typed here, but I’m not quick to lay the blame entirely at Barack Obama’s feet. People unlucky enough to have cancer — or whatever — need care. Back in the day, fifteen years ago, I could buy a PPO plan for $400/mo that gave me a $40 copay and a deductible. I’d shop around and pay cash for the stuff I needed and get better deals since it would be under my deductible anyway. That plan rose about 18% per year until it finally disappeared. So my premiums have been out of site for years and this is only the latest obscenity in my experience.

As someone who has lived with govt supplied healthcare all his life, I have trouble understanding the phrase “shop around ” for healthcare... so strange!

On the other side of the coin: We don’t shop for doctors, we hunt for them, because there are never any to be found!

No, not really. :)

Urgent care is always available, but getting a specialist or finding a family doctor can be a long process. We do have some private options for specialists and services like imaging, so it works out not too bad in most cases!
