I’ve been seeing this a lot lately. Someone taking a left waits for a gap in traffic in the first lane (heading right in the photo). They sit there, blocking traffic while they wait for a gap in traffic in the second lane (heading left).

Kinja'd!!!

I can;t stand this. If you are blocking me, I’m not stopping til i’m right at your door, and i’ll probably beep. If you think I’m stopping to let you in ahead of me, you are nuts. Wait for your time to go, don’t make people wait for you.

A guy did this to me a while back but he was a contractor, pulling a trailer, with his name and number on both. I honked. He had his window down and was immediately screaming something at me, gesturing, etc. and I just sat and waited while he held up traffic in both directions. Great advertising!

FUCKING PREACH!!!

The other thing that pisses me off... I was driving down a fairly heavily traveled 2 lane road the other day and came upon a line of stopped traffic. Why you ask? Because some twatwaffle decided they wanted to make a u-turn but was too fucking stupid to stop in the center left turn lane right next to them, and instead stopped in the travel lane. Morons.......

I hold the horn button down until at least 5 seconds AFTER they complete the turn, regardless of how long that takes. Fuck ‘em.

This is why I wish it was totally legal to just hit them. Be like, I have right of way, your problem if you get hit. And then just drive something you dont care about and without airbags. This would make driving so much better. You fuck up, you get hit, and its your problem to fix your shit. Maybe then people would learn.

I swear, 2/3 of the road ragers I’ve seen in the last 6 months were driving some sort of van/work truck with their company logo and phone number on the side.

I’m NOT shy about calling these people up and reporting them, either.

First day of driver’s ed in 10th grade, local police officer told us the most common crashes are courtesy crashes. I don’t care how big of a stink eye you give me, I’m not leaving you a gap.

The other day a clueless elderly woman did exactly this. Complete stop blocking 2 lanes. Had to stand on the brakes and swerve slightly into the parking lot ramp she came out of.

I have laid on the horn in situations like this to the point that the driver actually backed up.

I understand their frustration - the opposite traffic lane was flowing non-stop. But that doesn’t mean it’s safe or warranted to hold up an entire line of traffic with an equally high rate of flow as the never ending line coming from the opposite direction.

I hate this too. “Neener neener you have to stop for me because you’re supposed to yield to cars within the intersection.” No, asshole, it’s YOU who are supposed to yield to cross traffic, and that means both directions.

It seems painfully obvious to me that in some places, you really need to just give up and make a right turn, then find a place on the left side of the road to pull into, turn around, and make another right turn. Even though there’s a little more complexity to such a series of maneuvers, you’ll often cut that wait time in half. Hell, I don’t even bother trying to turn left out of corner gas stations anymore.

It is the classic “all about me” attitude our society has been breeding. They don’t care that they hold up anyone else. They don’t want to wait.

So much this - anywhere that I know it’s a big headache, I either go around the block, or find a way to jog over somewhere that has a stoplight.

The best part is, if they make a RIGHT turn, and drive to the next intersection with a traffic light (or backtrack to one) they’ll probably only lose mere seconds from their drive.

Related is the phenomenon where you are the second car going from left to right, and some tool decides to “be nice” and slam on the brakes to let the left turner out.

Nice == predictable. Since deciding to stop to let someone out is not predictable, they aren’t being nice.

That person is being a dick to the hundreds of people in the backup they created, so they could be “nice” to one person.

Seriously, fuck those people.

I partially blame everyone using Waze to get around (or Google maps). Those apps somehow cannot grasp that a left hand turn at a stop sign onto a high traffic road without stop signs is a bad idea and won’t save you two minutes.

So, one has to know the route to avoid such shenanigans.
