I know I said I was keeping the S10 and I probably still am but this is very interesting and would make my house a complete Mazda household. Yes, I realize it’s a Ford Ranger with a Mazda badge. No, I don’t care.

I am texting the guy that owns it. He’s already said he’ll take $2,500 for it. He says it has 203,000 miles (yikes) but the only “repair” it needs is that it needs freon. Which tells me the A/C is shot.

I had to screenshot these photos from the Facebook ad. So, sorry for their (lack of) quality.

I texted him for some interior photos, too. He says he has owned it a year and has only driven it maybe ten times.

That’s odd - buy then sell a truck that’s usually bought for utility. And it’s a 20 year old Ford product, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but can be a bad thing. I’d want to see complete service records. And get it checked out before you buy.

The devil you know vs the one you don’t.

Also not *really* a Mazda...

The S10 is just on my bad side right now because it died on me yesterday for no reason and I had to go to the bank and its exhaust fumes were nauseating me as I waited in the drive-thru.

Ignore the boneheads. Mazda and Ford had a long collaboration on light pickups with early fords being rebadged mazdas and later mazdas being rebadged fords. Either way, these little trucks are practically unkillable.

Despite my wife’s constant prodding to get rid of it, I still have my ‘94 B-3000. It has 269,000 miles. I’m having a hard time getting up the nerve to get rid of it.

If it’s like mine, the a/c parts are really easy to replace. I’d ask for a picture under the hood to see the condition. Watch out for the plastic intake. They tend to crack and admit air after the MAF, causing the truck to run rough. Before you make the plunge, go to rangerpowersports.com and poke around the forums. Those guys are definitely enthusiasts and have a wealth of information to share.

Good luck!

Oh.

Well, as someone who owned a car that tried to kill their owner, yeah maybe sell the s10 and get something better eventually. Not a Ferd with over 200k miles. Maybe a Ranger with 125k miles or an ‘87 B2200i, which is a Mazda-mazda.

Stay away from that 4.0 SOHC engine. It has a very sketchy design for the timing chain tensioners. They have a hard lifetime of ~200k if taken care of.

I have always loved rangers and Mazda trucks but get one with a 3.0 v6 and a 5 speed. They’ll run forever.

I’ll have you know my Celica had cruise control, AND that it didn’t work.

The SOHC 4.0 started in ‘01. The older pushrod 4.0 is still good.

No, it was introduced in 98. It was mixed use in rangers until 01, it was the main explorer engine almost immediately though.

But it says 4WD on the side in red graphics. How can you not like that?

I have nothing against them, I was just teasing zoidberg cause he now has a modern car. Might be his first fuel injected car too.

You know you’re Zoidberg when your first modern car is over a decade old.
