Got the money to buy a new car on Monday.. today I got a new job as a driver for a nation wide delivery company (a job I had not applied for). No more minimum wage worker at Toys R Us with just 100 hours pr month.. Now it’s 180 hours pr month behind the wheel of a brand spanking new Mercedes sprinter.

No rear windows. But I’ve driven 18-wheelers before, If I can’t manage to reverse a sprinter I better hand in my licence :)

For sure. I can see that. But I’ve been driving lorrys, hgvs and “largish” vans like the sprinter for more than 10 years :) I’ll manage. Thanks for the concern though.

Rad indeed Mr. El :) On another note though, my sister moved to the US a few months ago. Married some guy from Boise, now living in Park City. I’ll probably visit her some time next year. Perhaps I should try to rent a car and come see you as well.

I’ve driven Frankfurt (Germany) to Hamar (Norway) in one go (about 17 hours), only stopping for petrol.. done it several times.. 27 hour trip would be a leisurely two day trip mate :P

From earlier experience.. I’d expect no rust at all. Poperly maintained cars don’t rust. Granted it’s been a few years since I worked as a driver, but back then a sprinter was THE car. No problems at all.. Iveco’s or GM products though... never knew if I would even get to my destination.

I have never seen a Mercedes/Dodge/Freightliner (they are sold as all 3 here in the US) Sprinter that wasn’t super rusty. They all seem to rot on and around the doors. They seem to be mechanically good but they always have visible rust when I see them.

Huh.. “up here” they tend to be the nice vans... hardly any rust at all compared to VW or Fiat/Iveco. Doesn’t really matter though.. I’d drive a rusty shitbox anyday, I just love driving.

Many years ago at work we rented a cube van as we were moving from one plant to another. The truck had a back window and I’m pretty sure a rear view mirror. The first time I went to back into the loading dock I did the standard turn around to look out the rear window and was staring at the front wall of the cargo box. That was when I discovered that loading docks have little lines on the side to help you line up the trailer / cargo box with the loading dock when you’re using the side mirrors.
