Came home to a friendly letter from the German police. Been a little bit too fast, yet again.
Now my first reaction was: oh god, that’s gonna be a nice reminder of the Megane when it will be gone. I proceeded to open the letter, to discover a picture of my face, and of a number plate. A black and silver plate. The Pajero’s plate.
I managed to go 15 kph over the speed limit in one of the slowest cars I’ve ever owned!

I’ve had fun tuner cars for several decades now, and my speeding ticket was in the wife’s stock Rav4.
I think it’s the auto transmission, I just wasn’t paying attention like I do in my own car.

I wish that is how they did it in the USA. I usually have to pay the ticket, then go to court just to plead it down to a no points violation. I’ve no beef with the fine, but I don’t want my insurance to go up!

Speeding ticket under 10mph? I like roads in the US, Ive been given warnings for doing 20 mph over (32kph) while passing on a backroad. I think Id get run off the road doing only 10 over on the highway during commuting hours around home.

it was 20+mph over, I think the cop was generous when he marked it as 19mph over to keep it in that range to reduce my fine.
and yeah, speed limit +10 is absolutely the cruising speed of US roads.
back home in Australia I would have lost my license for the speed I was going, here in the US I got a $50 fine. I literally laughed.

It’s a speed camera. Go faster than the speed limit = ticket in the mail. They do give you a few (5?) kmh for free due to potential calibration variations.

Ahh a foreign concept to me for sure! I kind of just drove the limit while in Norway, since nobody else was speeding anyways. Very peaceful to drive there actually. And When i went to Italy it was absolute chaos, especially in Rome, so it felt like home. On the autostrade people just slowed down for the well marked speed camera and then immediately back up to 150 km/hr.
