Kinja'd!!!

The 2018 MX-5 / Miata / Roadster is getting a red convertible top! I wonder how expensive it is to switch tops...

I’m not sure what color that is, but it’s not red.

Brownish-purple?

Speaking of tops, is your 124 noticeably quieter than the Miata? I didn’t drive them back to back but I dont think the Fiat was as loud. IIRC the 124 and GT MX5 get 2 layer tops and the sports/clubs get 1 layer.

That red looks nice though.

I think it’s more brownish-gold.

More burgundy than red? The option is called “Red Roof Package” by Mazda.

I’m gonna go with “dark mauve”.

The 124 is very noticeably quieter than the MX-5. It’s even more apparent back to back, but still noticeable when I hop in the Miata and can hear the wind noise.

My understanding is there is actually three tops. The standard top (MX-5 Sport and Club) which has just the pressed cover for sound protection. Then a mid-spec top (MX-5 GT, 124 Classica and Abarth) that has the pressed cover and 1 layer sound deadening; and a quieter-spec top that has the cover and 2 layers of deadening on the 124 Lusso.

I can attest having test driven a Lusso, it does seem slightly more quiet than my Classica. The Lusso also has a different part number for the top, whereas the Abarth/Classica is the same.

Are the Bilsteins, Brembos, and LSD still limited to the Club trim?

So many tops! I think a thicker one might be a down the road upgrade for me. I drive a lot and it is a bit loud.

I know how you feel. I wish we got the blue for the 124 that the Italians have. It is an amazing color especially with the black hood and trunk. THough the black should not continue onto the bumper

Kinja'd!!!

I know the original went all the way to the front, but so did the hood... Idk, I guess that is a bit nit picky.

Still limited to the Clubs, and I believe the LSD is limited to the manual Clubs only as well. (Probably double check on that, but I think that’s how it is)

I am still a little bitter about not getting that bright blue in the US. If Fiat were to offer it for the 2018 year instead of that new dark blue, I’d take the hit and trade in as soon as they hit the lots. *Sigh*

Not a big fan of the Abarth blackouts in general, but I can see the appeal.

I like them cause they make the plastic not look as shitty.

I don’t understand not mking all your colors avaliable everywhere.

Like I bought a Note 8 and they make them in black, gray, blue, and gold

Kinja'd!!!

I would have gotten blue in a heartbeat, but the US only gets black and gray and canada only gets blue or black. Why not make them all avaliable everywhere. I couldn’t afford to just buy an unlocked one full out so I had to get the T-Mobile version in black. I just don’t understand that whole country and colors not sold there.

I’m still salty about those options no longer being available on the GT or similar trims. Until the ND came around it was always possible to mix the sporty and luxury options.

What I’m really salty about is when I test drove a 124 I needed one more notch of recline than the seat was willing to recline. The recline mechanism stops in the spot where the seat hits the bulkhead when the seat is slid all the way back. But if you slide the seat forward, you still can’t recline any more.

The 124 (and ND) should have that additional recline you are looking for, as that’s how I fit in both of them. Slide the seat all the way back, and then recline it all the way back. Then slid the seat forward one click, push back on the seat while reclining and you get another click or two. Frees up a ton of space for taller people (I’m 6' 3").

When I test drove a 124, the second half of the procedure you described didn’t work. I slid the seat forward so it was no longer touching the bulkhead, and the seat still didn’t want to recline any farther.
