!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Totally not a revenue grab dropping the speed limit from 35 to 25 on a random mile-long stretch of 4-lane road in a commercial area and placing speed cameras at either end.

I thought people were challenging these types of tickets in court and winning? Now I need to do some googling.

This kind of utter bullshit pisses me off to no end.

...I’m not even going to get started here. If I do I’ll end up writing several pages.

I know in CO, you can ignore them. They get dropped after 90 days if you are not served in person by a police officer with the citation. If you do get served in person, the fine basically doubles, but it’s still a no points violation.

I wonder how much the city/municipality was bribed. These are the people who deserve guillotines.

These speed cameras serve no benefit to society. The fact that they generate so many tickets means the speed is set too low. You should ask for an engineering study to be done by either the city (they’ll scoff probably) or IDOT (they will if allowed in Iowa). A road diet or geometric changes would be better for safety than these monstrosities if the speed has to be low because of schools or peds. I help with speed studies where I live and many times it is determined that the limit was set too low.

I got an idea for these cameras. The resolution is so good why not use them instead for traffic counting and congestion monitoring? Oh wait the city doesn’t own them....then they should be removed.
