Kinja'd!!!

The clatter of antiquated engines, some nearing a century old. The bouquet of unburned fuel, many weights of oil, well-aged leather, the occasional hint of cigar, and the distant yet constant aroma of Hershey’s chocolate. Vintage and classic cars as far as the eye can see... these best describe the sights, sounds and smells of the AACA Eastern Division Regional Fall Meet.

The Fall Meet has been running since 1955, and occurs during the first full week in October. The meet features a large multi-day flea market and car corral, a vintage race car showcase, an old-time movie night - all leading up to the main event, the car show.

The general rules for the show are simple; the vehicle must be at least 25 years old, and it must be stock. As you can imagine, the variety of cars in attendance is quite large.

Below are my personal highlights from the show field; many more pictures can be found here on Flickr .

Are there any resources to find these upcoming shows in PA? I feel like every time I see you post, it’s at a show near me that I didn’t realize was happening.

I assume there is a requirement to use a fire extinguisher as a wheel chock?

I was wondering the same thing! Hope no one drove off, forgetting it...

The ‘37 Imperial is apparently one that belonged to Walter Chrysler. Also, a Crosley Farm-o-Road!

A requirement for judging at this show is to have a fire extinguisher. Some people use them as wheel chocks, for some reason...

K-Cars, Escorts, and Saturns at a vintage car show, what an age we live in.

Good eye! It drew quite the crowd, deservedly so.

The Crosley was neat, too! There used to be a large group of them that would attend Das Awkscht Fescht every year. They didn’t take up much space...

If there is, I’m not aware of it.

If there’s not, then there should be!

I guess I’m just wondering how you hear about these shows. I’m well aware of the shows in Macungie but that’s about it.

What a great variety of vehicles!

Having nearly 85 years of cars in one spot certainly helps that!

Personally, I liked seeing these here. The fact that well preserved examples of “new” vintage cars exist A) amuses me, and B) reminds me that the definition of vintage is evolving, and isn’t some static thing.

The more well cared for old cars ( even “new” ones ) the better, in my book.

I am the same way. I have more respect for a mint Tempo than a new lease it and leave it car. For these things to survive means they were a labor of love.

It also makes me feel old.

It’s really just been word-of-mouth. Usually through friends and co-workers either local to the show or who have participated. I wish it was better organized, as I’m sure I’m missing a few myself.

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix was through college friends I met while I was in Erie.

I think the Hershey Fall Meet was through a visiting the Hershey Car Museum.

Carlisle tends to have quite a few events throughout the year (Corvette Nationals, Ford Nationals, etc). I heard about the Import and Kit Nationals (now Import and Performance Nationals) through a co-worker who participated. I haven’t been to that show in a while, it’s on my list for next year.

There’s a cars and coffee at Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, which I learned about through a co-worker when I worked in Allentown.

The cruise nights at the Markets at Shrewsbury was through a co-worker at my new job, and I saw a billboard for it as I pass by the Markets at Shrewsbury on my way to work.

Do you ever go to the C&C at the SteelStacks? I live about 10 minutes from there. I heard that it has monthly themes for some reason.

I went there once two years ago, haven’t had a chance to go back. I thought it was pretty good. The monthly theme is for the area in front of the ArtsQuest Center, at least when I was there. The other parking areas were pretty open to whatever showed up.

I’m enjoying the early ‘90s cars beginning to make an appearance. I think I’m going to have a harder time when the ‘00s cars start showing up though...

Interesting. We’ll I saw that they’re done for the year so maybe I’ll check it out in 2018. I imagine car shows are winding down at this point.

Azteks and Vehicross. Maybe a selection of Daewoo.
