I haven’t seen any of those in a veeery long time. I remember shopping for a new old car with my dad in 2000. I spotted the last generation Bluebird T12 on a used car lot back then, and I remember thinking even then that it was rare. We ended up with a Citroën BX, which was still very common back then.

The T12 in particular was popular at the time but apart from the one above I’ve not seen one in ages. They’re just disposable larger cars. Diesel U11s were commonly used as taxis.

I believe the vast majority here was shipped to Africa after the second owner was done with it. All Japanese sedans had that fate. Great mechanicals, horrible designs and very poor rustproofing resulted in low resale values here but for dry and salt free Africa they must have been great.

What I see anytime someone says Nissan Bluebird. That No.15 car took pole position at the Hardie Ferodo 1000 on Mt.Panorama, Bathurst in 1984 with a 2 minute 13.85 second lap time...only ten seconds slower than pole position last weekend (bearing in mind that The Chase wasn’t a feature on Conrod Straight in 1984).
