Ive long voiced my displeasure with Kia’s new flagship. I think it’s an honest mess design-wise, which I think Kia went a little crazy with.
Nevertheless, I found one at a dealership, and now that I’ve seen it in person, what do I think?
Well, I’m not gonna say it’s a total turnaround, but I don’t dislike it as much as I used to. It does have a real presence of athleticism and an overall sleekness, but there’s still some areas where I don’t think it adds up. It’s nice, but not nice enough.
I hope to maybe test drive one soon. Until then, here’s some rainy pics.

I’m really happy they gave the car an actual name instead of a numeric designation. I think it is flawed, but overall a solid base on which to build up the lineup. The K900 was too much, too fast. The stinger is that right sized step. If they do a K900 like vehicle down the line, I’m sure it will see greater success...provided that people buy the stinger.

I personally love the design, and they’ve won over a large portion of the Canadian public from what I hear.

No ones driven it yet but VP of Kia Canada (who owns one of the Stinger GT prototypes himself) let TheStraightPipes have a look at a prepro, of which there are currently 3 in country.

The stinger badging might be the best decision they made with this car. It also looks like the steering wheel doesn’t have a Kia badge?

You’re correct, it doesn’t have one. This is a Korean market version on loan from Kia USA, so maybe it’s a weird Korea only badge.

That’s the new emblem they’re using on their more upscale models in South Korea, and maybe a few other markets.
Its supposed to symbolize Exclusive, Exquisite, Evolutionary, and Engineered by Excellence, supposedly the brand values behind their up level cars.

I do not like the side vents. Otherwise it is okay.

A chrome delete (I would do glossy black) and swap out the badge for the S. Korea badge and it would look 90% of the way there.
