The only thing that bugs me. Is how they threw in all the offroad vehicles from FH3, but there’s no offroading or rallying.

GT (I think) always had rallying!

I’m still pissed I haven’t gotten a decent GT for PS4. How are they going to let a new system come out and not even port the most recent release onto it?! No, I have to wait several years for it. At least it comes out soon. It better be worth the wait.

I’m sure we’ll get an announcement very early next year, after the holidays and after GT Sport has sold enough to not completely be killed by the announcment of a real GT7.

Also the GT Sport limited time demo is went live literally a minute ago.

Hot take: GT hasnt been good since 4 and Forza has been consistently good. And no I’m not a biased xbox fanboy, I have both consoles and the most recent Forza and GT games.

Been playing through Forza 6 and had the same thought. What’s the point of all these SUVs if all I can do with them is take them to the same tracks I can race F1/Indy/LMP1 cars on? I need some rallycross circuits.

And if I get rallycross circuits, we need rally modifications for the cars, too.

What’s this Gran Turismo and Forza you speak of?

All I know is Outrun, you should check it out, it’s in every good arcade.

Forza has been better since GT5/Forza 3. I was so disappointed by GT5 that I sold my PS3. It looked fantastic, but that’s about all it did well in my mind.

I forgot about GT Sport until I was reading this yesterday. Hopefully a massive new game does come out in a decent enough time.

I’m pretty confident that GT Sport was originally intended to be GT7 Prologue, but the combination of the FIA esports stuff and the costs involved with how this is the first GT since GT3 to be a 100% new game.

I do think GT7 is closer than most people think, though. I wouldn’t be surprised by a holiday 2018 release. Like, I get why they are acting like one isn’t coming, since everyone would be “yeah, I’ll skip the demo and wait a year” if they announced GT7 before Sport came out.

What surprises me about Sport is how it’s a full-priced game, since I figured they be selling it as the GT7 multiplayer component and treating it like an early access kind of thing.

It always seemed odd to me when someone would call games a knock off of another when talking about a generic concept or platform. At the end of the day, they’re both racing games with a wide selection of cars that you can modify.

Sure, one did it first, but it’s not like the idea was all that ground breaking or an escape from reality. Pretty much just embodies pre-existing segments of car cultures (amateur racing, time attack, professional racing, etc).

Forza was Gran Turismo, minus the license tests. It’s not that they were similar, it’s that they were functionally identical.

I’m not saying this as a slight against Forza, I like the game. I have a ton of problems with it but I do like it.

I mean, GT was a pretty generic racing game in concept. All the cars are real cars, most of the tracks are real, and the modifications are somewhat realistic. It’s just a simulation after all.

They just simulated real life car culture. They didn’t do anything innovative except for the license test (in a way).

Doesn’t seem to me like you can knockoff a simulation of reality.

It’s kind of like saying Call of Duty is a knockoff of Medal of Honor. MOH came first, but they are both just WW2 shooters at the end of the day. Nothing innovative there.

I always found that cars felt unnaturally heavy in GT

Which is why it’s hilarious to call Forza a 2nd rate GT knock off when GT itself has been a 2nd rate knock off of itself since GT4.

Forza stopped being a GT knock off a long time ago after Forza 2.

Hmmm, did you play many racing games before gran turismo 1? I remember being CRAZY jazzed for “Grand Tour Racing 98" because it had like 50 cars, which was such a big number of cars i could hardly believe my PS1 would be able to handle it. Need for Speed 1 was the best simulation we had and it didn’t have any modifications, much less modifications that were even remotely related to real life.

I get what your’e saying that still, conceptually it wasn’t that different, but i strongly disagree. Its scope was unthinkably massive for the time. I’m pretty sure there hadn’t been a game with licensed cars in it that offered more than about 20 different vehicles before Gran Turismo (grand tour racing 98 did not have licensed vehicles.)

It was the equivalent of mortal kombat or street fighter going from like 16 playable characters to like 150 playable characters. At some point you no longer get to call those two things conceptually the same.

Yeah, when this console generation came out, i was like “Yay i’m an adult, i can own all the consoles!” and then i was like “but i dont have infinite money, so i’ll wait on the PS4 until Gran Turismo 7 comes out”

So i dont have a PS4 yet.

They both had their distinct differences and upsides until 6. Then GT let Forza run away and take over the territory.
