Do I get a 2015 VW up!..

Kinja'd!!!

Or do I get a 2003 Saab 9-5 2.3T AND a 2010 Toyota IQ?

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

I’d pay the same for the up! as I would for the two other cars.. The catch? The up has done 10k miles... the Saab has done 200k miles and the IQ has done 50k miles.

If one car is a good thing, then two cars must be twice as good. Duh!

The Toyota can be your sensible car and the Saab can be your not so sensible car. Is the Toyota a diesel or a bensin?

Both are petrol cars (or bensin :) ) That was my reasoning as well... Not sure the master of the house feel the same though :P

Do you want the sensible answer or the other one?

Sensible: One Up! will cost you an awful lot less to run than one very worn Saab and one weird Toyota

Other: of course you buy the two. You’ve now got two cars to tax and insure but you’ve got a proper car (the Saab) and a spare for those occasions, and there’ll be many, when the Saab fails to proceed.

Any news on the driverless thing?

Two is better than one. Probably.

As Laird you generally outweigh the house master in societal issues

The American in me wants to tell you to get the up! since we can’t get them here. But really, the Scion is perfectly reliable for another 200k miles and the Saab is...well, a Saab, so unless registration and insurance for two cars is a killer, get the two.

Two cars>one car

Never got around to do anything with the driverless bus, had to work that day :/ But what you’re telling me is that I should get the Saab (and tune it) and have the IQ as the sensible car right?

Rego and insurance for the two is about 100 USD more than for the up!.

The iQs are supposedly pretty stout little things, aren’t they? Could use that as a daily easily I would think, and 50K miles isn’t bad at all.

The Saab would not be cheap when issues arose, but if cars are your hobby, it’s hard to argue with a weekend/fun car :)

The big question is...what would insurance cost for the TWO vs. the one Up?

How hard is the insurance + road tax penalty for the package deal?

The Up isn’t really bad, as in it’s pretty honest in what it is. A basic umbrella on wheels that offers the slow car fast fun in a way the original Panda did.

100 USD more in insurance... and about 400 USD more in road tax

Well, the even more sensible option is to forget both the Up and the Saab and just buy the iQ!

The iQ is petrol only (as is the Up! - except for the e-Up of course!).

If you’re going the sensible route you might as well get *only* the iQ instead of only the Up!.

You only live once mate! :P

If the Saab turns out to be a bust, sell it and you still have the reliable little iQ!

I thought you could get the iQ with a 1.4 diesel?

Not here but Google tells me that indeed you could elsewhere which is news to me. In some markets it had the 1.4 diesel from the Yaris.

Get the iQ

It alone will last longer than any VW

look at you, showing off with the ability to buy cool cars we can’t get over here

VW should sell the Up and Polo over here
