I wanna say it’s a 455 SD, too, but I took that picture a few hours ago and not sure where it is now.

The 62 “Catalina” in the picture is a custom aluminum block 389 with 2×4 and sold for 65k just now.

Oh yeah, that Catalina looks sweet too. I actually prefer the Firebird Formula of that era, but a 455 TA is too cool.

But wouldn’t that 455 only be worth about 250 HP tops?

Lol as I read your note I saw this. Also a Ferrari spyder went across the block recently. 355 or 360? Wasn’t watching closely.

The SD-455 was 290hp, but it’d be torquey.

I want to say that the SD was higher than that, but regardless, they can be easily modified to breathe better and make decent HP.

Gib Alfa plz. It’ll probably go for more than the Maserati next to it, though.

Ferrari is a 430. I’m on information overload.

Not sure about the prices on the Maserati or that Alfa - they’ve been across already.

Right. As Bman said, torquey as hell, and you could probably get 50++ HP easily.

Kinja is being a butt right now. I have a few, but Olds was sadly underrepresented. I’m a big Olds fan, too - I’ve owned a couple from the mid 60s.

Will try again later with pix

The Olds is in the foreground of the first picture of course, not the Catalina. Not pictured are ANOTHER triple black ‘67 442 ‘vert (that one was a restomod), and ‘60 88 convertible, with a ridiculous continental kit. Thought I had pix of those, but nope.

Mmm. The 66-67 Olds and Buick A-bodies are the only ones I like. The Malibu and Le Mans are much too plain for my liking.

the ‘64-67 GM A bodies are peak General Motors as far as I’m concerned - across the board, I love them. No exceptions, though the ‘64 Malibu would be my 16th choice (and the ‘64s in general aren’t as well styled as the years that followed). I particularly love the ‘65s - having owned both the Cutlass and Skylark from that year.

The other ‘67 442 was also a triple black convertible, but it had all of the side trim removed, and was riding on wheels that were too big for me (19 or 20?). But it also had disc brakes and some other upgrades, and a very high quality paint job - got to $40k, but reserve not met.

The auction was very heavy on Ford/Chevy - which is typical but it seemed like it was even more than usual to me.

I definitely love all 64/65 and 68/69 across the line up for sure. But I don’t care for the 66/67 Chevy or Pontiac at all, nor do I like the 70-72 Chevy or Buick as much as the rest. Oddly enough, as far as the 70-72 A bodies go, I like the 70 Chevelle, but prefer the minor updates of the 71/72 for the rest of GM. The one headlight Chevelles just don’t look right, and the two headlight Chevelle would make more sense with the round tail light bumper of the 71/72.

I know what you mean - for the ‘68-72 cars, I like the Oldsmobiles much better than any of the rest of them. As an added bonus, the Cutlass offered 2 different rooflines in the hardtop coupe the last few years, unlike the others. I like the ‘66-67 Pontiacs OK, but they have a *little* too much coke-bottle shape for me (body-length fender bulge). I do really like the ‘66-67 Chevelles, though.

More importantly to me, Oldsmobile offered more power across the board that whole period (especially 64-67) in the non-SS/GTO/GS/442 line, unless you find a Malibu with a high-performance 327. If you can’t afford a GTO/SS etc., the Cutlass gives you the most fun for your $.

Nice - I haven’t even heard of that before. I’m not a big beer drinker either, but I’d have to try it, just for the name.

What’s your avatar photo off of? A 68-72 Cutlass I’m guessing?

Kinja'd!!!

Never had a light green one, though my mom claims to see green in my 72 Supreme. Maybe it’s the way the blue sky reflects in the cream (Covert Beige) paint? My dad has the 71 Bittersweet on Sienna Brown (both are one year only colors) 442 behind it. We still have both and yes the avatar picture is the air cleaner from the 72.

I was looking at the above post - - in the picture, I swear the cream colored Supreme looks like light green to me. Either way, gorgeous car(s)!

You must be pretty close to my office - there’s another photo dump you posted that all looks like very familiar surroundings.

Yea I can see that. Maybe the wide range of light and shadow paired with the way the light filters through the green leaves?

I’m definitely near the air port.

That cream color is nicer than the green I had in my head - - it looks richer and deeper. Must be the light in the other post.

Yeah, I’m in that line of office buildings alongside the Kennedy (on Bryn Mawr), and directly under the approach path to 27L.

No kiddin’... That is right by me. When I get off at Cumberland I sometimes go south over to Bryn Mawr. Because if the traffic light gods look down on me with favor I get to enjoy that little hairpin turn and wide left immediately after.

LOL - you mean the right turn from SB Cumberland that loops back and then turns left onto Bryn Mawr?

Yeah, once in a while I get to take that around 7/10ths or so (in either direction). Doesn’t happen often, but I do enjoy it. :)
