Kinja'd!!!

My buddy Dave is looking for a Toyota pickup.

Kinja'd!!!

He sent me a pic this morning of his broken Eclipse.

He wants an old one, 80s or older, and is not afraid of projects. If you hear of one, send it my way.

Thanks, Oppo.

There was a small shitty one in Hanford for sale I saw the other day. I’ll see if it’s still there.

Let me get this straight - he wants an old Toyota, and you have two of them, such that you could be taking pictures of both of them at once. And possibly of yourself as well, lovingly stroking them.

Is that a thing you’re doing? It ought to be a thing you’re doing. I mean, neither is a pickup, but still.

Lots of good options, fortunately Toyota sold tons of pickups. The old “Truck” or Hilux was sold in the USA until the Tacoma was released in 1995. The 20R (1975-80) 22R (81-85 in USA) or 22RE (85-95) seems to be choice, as its mostly cast iron and built like a tank. the 3.0V6 isn’t too shabby, but consider doing head gaskets and the timing belt on it if it’s not been done. Pre-1985 4x4 trucks have a solid front axle and are usually more sought after in the off-roading world. 4x2 trucks have stayed quite affordable.

No. Because then that would mean I look at old Toyotas. Then I’ll want one again, just as I have forced myself to forget about them. Then I’ll give the Cougar a side eye, it’ll slink into the corner nervously awaiting a For Sale sign. Either that, or I’ll start house shopping for a place with some land and an outbuilding. Man, would that be dangerous if I could actually store, say, 10 vehicles somewhere.

The impractical answer is an imported 1973 Corona pickup

Can’t surf CL because work but take a page out of the Zoidberg book and look up here in Seattle. They don’t rust here.
