Left-foot-braker using pedal as a foot rest.

That makes a shocking amount of sense.

...as an explanation I mean.

I suspect the average license-holding tenure in BC and ON is about 6 months.

And if I hadn’t got one myself I’d swear the length of the process required to get one lasted about 6 minutes.

Fog a mirror and you’re good to go!

Hey, I’m a left-foot braker, you got a problem with that?! :P

(srsly, though, it’s fantastic and I’ll never go back. Better reaction times and a lot smoother. After the learning curve, that is.)

Or, a theory, in which I find much more likely: the driver is aware of the car’s regenerative braking and by riding the brakes, thus charging the battery while driving, has found a way to achieve perpetual motion with no energy loss.

I have no problem with that as long as you don’t use the pedal as a foot rest.

The worst are the ones who have a heavy-enough foot to cause the brake lights to stay on all the time. Then you can’t tell if they are stopping or going.

I like to catch them at a light and tell them that they should have the switch checked on their brake pedal because their brake lights are stuck on. I assume that the stupid look they get on their face is the realization that the real problem is their own left foot.

I fuckin hate people who inccessantly brake for absolutely no reason. Is your car about to careen off a cliff?? I mean we’re talking about a pretty gradual curve here.

It’s good for ~80km/h. Although bear in mind this is one of those people who can’t complete a turn without an extra lane and a half... the ramp must be nearly a hairpin for them

But yeah...

Seems like every day now, I’m trying to smooth out the braking of the car in front of me for those behind. I can often cut the number of pedal applications in half.

I hate those people who have no brakes but completely forgets that there is a handbrake approximately 6 inches from their leg

Totally agree. I grew up in FL and saw this left-foot thing for years and grew to hate it. To me, it was what people who didn’t have the mobility or coordination to drive cars would do. Which is the exact opposite of how it should work, since (in my experience) left-foot braking is actually a lot tougher than right foot. It’s more like driving a manual transmission in terms of complexity, at least if you want to be smooth about it — and not ride the pedal.

The only time I left-foot brake is when I’m racing karts. The right foot keeps the go pedal pegged and the left foot applies whoah only when necessary.
