But a black over tan ‘91 W126 560SEL with barely any miles is one of my attainable dream cars. Pretty much my exact definition of what a Mercedes should be. If I had fuck you money I’d probably roll my eyes at the price and then buy it anyway.

Ugh, this is one of those places that makes me wish eBay allowed you to block sellers. There is a place in SoCal that had a lot of a car I was looking for, but wanted 10x market value because SoCal. Only way to get rid of them was to filter by price, but then you’d catch their “barn finds” that were nothing more than rusted out shells for $15k.

There’s one of these in my town on Antique plates. I finally saw the owner the other day and asked him about it. He said his uncle bought it new, and he got it when he died about 20 years ago. It looks like it’s only driven in the summer (I’m near a lake that has a lot of summer-only peeps), and it’s beautiful. This is the quintessential Mercedes to me, too.
edit: a closer look says the one in my town must be a bit older than 1991... but whatever.

One day I was coming home and saw one of these parked by my house in silver. I was enamored. I started taking a bunch of pictures and the owner came out, cool ass dude and we spoke about Mercedes for a good 30 mins. I was astonished by how mint everything was, he told me the only body work he had done was fixing some surface rust on the rear but you wouldn’t know it it was so immaculate. Oddly enough a month later I was driving in a totally different place in NYC and saw his same car (same license plate) parked on the side of the street but I didn’t see him so I didn’t stop.

Places like this are also why you need to pick ‘by owner only’ CL. I’m not necessarily opposed to finding the right car at a dealer but I don’t need to see every fucking car listed 1000 times.

Insane. I could see in the 20s, but it is a tough row to hoe past that. I don’t know if the MB All Time Stars sales center in Stuttgart would want as much, and that’s in a market where 126s are worth more. Nice car, but the price is hilarious, I hate these flippers and speculators.
Cars like this are also troublesome in that if you drive it much, you lose a lot of value and appeal. Low mileage cars are a very specific game, one I don’t know if I would want to play.
I think I would want mine in Diamond Blue with a cream interior.

If its anything like the 123 and 107 markets, these will eventually get to that price for original stupid nice ones.

CLA 45 cannot be had at 45K. Pretty sure you need closer to 50. Mercedes is stupidly overpriced these days. (and do not get me started on the absolutely imbecilic LED “star”)
