First of all. Are ones from Autozone, O’Reilly’s, NAPA, etc acceptable or should I splurge for OEM ones? The trailing arm (pivot) bushing is squeaking on my Integra. The tool for it (I don’t think generic one’s are big enough) runs at least $80. So if I get the tool and OEM bushings it’ll be at least $160 to do both bushings myself.
But if aftermarket bushing will do fine (Dorman, Moog, etc) those are only like $20.

The altrom and echlin brand from Napa is almost ALWAYS oem in a NAPA box from my experience

Plain old rubber bushings you don’t need to pop for OE.
I actually have some “plain old rubber” Monroe rear upper & lower shock mounts because someone on the BMW forums discovered they’re a lot stiffer than the weak-ass stock ones but they’re cheap and don’t have the downsides of polyurethane.

No way I’m going with poly. Everything I’ve heard/read about them says that when you use them for this bushing. They bind really bad and cause the rear to kick out unexpectedly.
Then again. I’d basically have a FF FR-S.......

I have poly bushings in certain places in my car where it was desirable to really firm things up and remove play from the suspension. Front lower control arms, and rear subframe. But it’s not for everywhere.

Can you rent the tool? And yeah, no need to go nuts for an OE bushing, but stick with the name brands, moog or trw... also, have you checked rockauto for a new arm with new bushing? Sometimes those are relatively inexpensive, and you don’t have to transfer the bushing over .

Can’t rent it. It’s a special Honda one. Good news is with some more research I found if you completely remove the arm you can easily hammer it out. Plus I talked to a nearby shop and they said if I can bring them the arm they’ll press in the new one. They didn’t say how much, but it can’t be more than $20.
Oddly RockAuto didn’t have much for the rear suspension. Just stuff for the LCAs. But on the Honda forums, people were saying they were happy with the Dorman bushing and that’s available from autozone for $20.

Do you have an opinion on their struts? I’ve heard mixed things about them. Last I checked they were pretty cheap too.
I’m thinking about doing the shocks soon. Since god knows how old the one’s on now are.
