Any ideas on how to clean this window?

Terrible photo trying to show the detail of the glass. Basically, it looks like hard water drops on my coworker’s windows but nothing he does (and nothing we tried during lunch) is able to make a difference. He has used multiple different glass cleaners, mixtures with vinegar, rags, microfibers, scratch resistant sponges, the little scrapey sides of sponges and more but to no avail. It’s actually pretty amazing.

The problem is that these marks, which you can actually feel the texture of when running your hand across them, trap moisture in the morning and make it almost impossible to see out of.

Any ideas?

It might sound crazy, but have you tried a clay bar? It’s amazing what they will clean off.

Might need to polish the glass.

Is the texture on the inside or outside of the window? It does look like hard water spots but I might guess it’s delaminating tint.

If it’s basically hard water deposits try CLR or Lime-Away. I’d suggest wiping it on and washing off with a liberal amount of water

Get some 0000 grade wire wool and plenty of glass cleaner and run it back and forward with little to no pressure on the wool otherwise some ceriglass paste glass polish of a cloth, followed by a good glass cleaner.

If none of this is available and any window tint is on the inside and not outside (like many factory done window tints), you could use plenty of glass cleaner and a razor blade at a shallow angle across the surface, keeping the surface wet.

Try this first. Water + dawn dish soap + Jetdry. Works like a charm every time.

Cerium Oxide and a glass specific polishing pad.

I cleaned hard water spots off of my windows with straight vinegar and paper towels. Worked great.

We would use wheel acid and then a quick soap and very fast rinse off.

Magic Erasers are just melamine foam. If you use them a lot, purchasing generic melamine foam blocks is absurdly cheaper, FWIW.

You need to polish that glass. Something that has a little cutting compound in it like Zaino Glass Polish should do the trick.

I’ve heard this, but where does one purchase generic melamine foam blocks? I usually just buy the generic Magic Erasers, but I’d love an even cheaper solution!

Barkeeper’s Friend or Bon Ami with a blue scratch pad. Won’t scratch the glass, it’ll get it really clean, and it won’t hurt the paint if you get some on it. Also, extremely cheap. I use this to polish chrome, too!

Searching “Melamine foam” or “Melamine sponge” on amazon gives quite a few results.

A razor blade scraper maybe? But polish should do the trick. There’s a few glass polishes out there that might take care of it.
