Motorcycles take up my time and fun money now so it doesn’t get the attention it deserves anymore. It might be the cleanest MR2 in the rustbelt. That means it only has a little rust in the rear fenders where the mudflaps attach. I’d love to see it go to an Opponaught. It already has an Oppo sticker!

I love these things, it was rather scary to autox with one lol
IT WAS SO COOL THOUGH, EVERYTHING IS SOOOO 80s! I think my favorite part was the manual steering rack, I want one in my Miata lol.
But yeah Im moving to california so of course Im gonna buy something totally rust free out there. GLWS though!

It was a blast to autocross! especially on mine with the rear sway bar and not very grippy tires, lift off oversteer for days!

lift off oversteer was so foreign to me. Im used to “lift off to cure understeer” rather than “lift off and wonder why im facing the other way suddenly”. It made it much harder to dance on the limit, especially with the slicks providing minimal feedback. I ran the same tires from my Miata so I was used to that feedback, but the MR2 amplified the danger zone lol. I think I got the hang of it by the end but I was scared shitless after the first spin on run 3.

Let me start by saying that my wife basically has said that I don’t need 2 cars, so I’m almost certainly not a buyer . . .
With those changes, what class do you run in for autocross? And what is the bolt pattern for the wheels?
Looks like a good deal. Even though my southern reaction to the “minor” rust is one of fear, I realize it isn’t necessarily an issue.

The engine swap bumps it to the modified classes even though its only a modest power bump. On a local level, everyone was cool with me running in STR where the Supercharged AW11's, 3rd gen MR2's, and S2000's, but that wouldn’t fly at nationals.
I thought about going for a full SSM build, but that would require new coilovers, the widest hoosiers I could fit, and a turbo to really have a chance.
The wheels are 4x100mm. Same as Miatas, Civics, etc.

IMO, you’d probably have better luck with the asking price if something was done about the rust. A lot of people will turn down an otherwise solid car unless it’s super dirt cheap just because of it. And I mean, your car is in awesome condition!

Yeah, my experience with rust is that it’s always worse than it looks, and despite Nonster’s openness about the condition of the car, the pictured rust scares makes this a no-go for me.
