The meet is on! August 10th-12th 2018. We have a discounted room rate. We also have will have a “concourse” space as well as a banquet space! The reason the date is so far in advance is so I can start bringing in big names to join us(hopefully). I will also be bringing in sponsors to provide prizes for the concourse, and I am thinking we need to get a charity to do a raffle for as well possibly.
The Fontana Village Resort is where the event will take place; rooms for the weekend are $260 for the full weekend. (130 a night) If this is out of your price range there is plenty of camping spots where you can stay for around $40, both tent and Rv spots.
There will of course be group drives around the dragon, as well as hiking, sight seeing and other outings.
This is all in the early planning stages, as we go on I will up date you with my latest information!

Off topic from this trip, but I am planning a couple days in early November this year to be down at the Dragon during my cross country drive to California. If any Oppos want to cruise around there and are local, Id definitely be up for that. I know quite a few good roads in the area other than the Dragon, so it will be a very spirited cruise, definitely making use of my 6 point harness there lol.
Also, depending on my availability I would think about flying in and getting something on Turo for this. No idea this far in advance though.

I have to find out my exact start date but right now there are basically two dates so its confirmed to be one of those. I am either departing from NJ Friday October 20th or Wednesday November 1st.
Should I leave Oct 20th, I will be planning to be stopping around Asheville, NC, and then spending all of Saturday 10/21 and part of Sunday 10/22 in the Deals gap area.
Should I leave Nov 1st, I will take some extra time to hit roads I love in NC and take the entirety of the Blue Ridge Parkway. So I will arrive to deals gap either late Thursday (11/2) or early Friday (11/3) and then definitely stay there Friday-Saturday (11/4) and head west Sunday (11/5).

The Dragon is pretty close to my school...
Maybe I can convince my team to let me bring “the car” down for the show.
More details will be on Oppo around March. Might be something with enough information to fill a full episode.
