What products and methods should I use to clean dirty aluminum wheels? Right now I am using Black Magic and a plastic scrub brush. I am thinking of using more Black Magic No Scrub Wheel Cleaner and a non-scratch kitchen scrub pad/sponge on my next go.
I got some aluminum wheels at a pic a part to use as 3 season wheels.

It depends on if they are coated or bare aluminum but if they are bare you can use aluminum polish.

I cleaned the wheel I used for my steering wheel table with a wheel cleaner and a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil. Yes, you read that correctly, a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil. It worked pretty good, you might not be able to tell, but there is no brake dust even after 25+ years of service.

That one orange hand cleaner scrub stuff, Simple Green, or just a used dish sponge that’s too old for dish scrubbing use.

I have been really pleased with Meguires Hot Wheels cleaner products. Does an awesome job getting the brake dust off with some additional scrubbing. I also use Turtle Wax bug and tar remover to get rid of the road tar.

It just rests on top of the wheel, it really doesn’t move too much. I had some rubber feet on it initially, but I eventually took them off. The original iteration was a little differnt:

Hi fella.
First off, what products do you have?
For wheel cleaning you need wheel cleaner, fallout remover (safely dissolves brake dust) and a good tar and glue remover.
First thoroughly clean the wheel with the wheel cleaner and rinse well,
loosely dry the wheel or do a second wheel while the first dries a little,
Spray on fallout remover, this will safely dissolve baked in brake dust, let dwell for a couple of minutes and then agitate and rinse,
on areas it’s well baked on, you may want to repeat this step,
again loosely dry or do another wheel,
Apply tar and glue remover, leave to dwell for a couple of minutes and then wipe off, repeat if necessary with some rubbing till your happy with how you’ve got the wheel.
Rewash with some car shampoo to make sure the wheel is free of any chemicals and then dry. You may find one or two bits you’ve missed but a light polish will solve it.

Is Goo Gone a good tar and glue remover, or am I looking for a different product?

I’ve not used Goo Gone but if it’s good at removing tar, go for it.
I recommend not using the plastic brush as you’ll scratch the surface with fine scratches.
One main thing you’ll need is brake dust remover. You can use wheel cleaner acid but it’s not always wheel safe.

Just be careful using any iron converter. It works great but you cant let it dry on the wheel or it will leave stains that you won’t get out.
