Not bad, but I have to say, I just don’t get it. Why not just have a liftback option for the A4 instead (think first gen Mazda6)? Why did they take the coupe-designated A5 and add 2 doors and make it a liftback? Did they really need to make a direct competitor to the 4-series GC?
Audi America is maddening.
Why is the S3 only a sedan?
Why is the A3 sportback e-tron only?
Why is the only wagon the A4 allroad?
Why do I even care when we all know I can’t afford any of these?
And what’s the deal with airline food?

The S5 has a wider track than the S4 as does the Sportback. And they are in very high demand, sales people I know say they can’t keep them in stock.

Here’s a good presentation from an Audi designer on how they came up with the A5 sportback design, and didn’t base it on the A4. There is also some initial discussion on the design of the A7.

I just looked.
I wasn’t aware we in the U.K. even got the A3 and S3 in saloon/sedan form.
I always thought the people who wanted a saloon A3 just bought an A4, just as if they wanted an estate A3, they bought the A4 Avant.
If it helps we only get the 4 and the 6 in the U.K. in estate or allroad form.
