I pull up to my local library and one young guy was running after another. The kid doing the chasing ran on my car. LITERALLY. RAN. ON. MY. CAR. Left a nice dent on my fender. I went after them on foot but lost them in a side street so I walked back and called the cops and the two fuckers walked back up. I called them over and they apologized and looked scared shitless, especially when the cop pulled up.
Basically nothing I can do, the deductible will be more than the repair, and I’d otherwise have to take them to small claims. Not worth it.
It’s been forever and a day since I’ve posted anything but I’m just venting. So fucking pissed.

I’d have seen if I could arrange a ride to the station for them. Sorry about the fender, but PDR should take care of it.

I had some kids damage my car with a cricket ball a few years ago, their parents paid the repair.
What sucks is I found it really really hard to find a repair shop that will do work outside of insurance though.

It sucks, but at least they came back and kind of owned up to kit, I’m surprised that actually happened.
Good PDR will fix that ding, you can also probably get a discount on any other dings you have in a packaged deal. Check your local Yelp for a well reviewed PDR company.
I use to worry about dings, but now I stopped caring and wait until the end of the year for my ding guy to get them all off in one shot. Usually about 4 dings per year at $25 bucks each.

Like how young? Because the parents should be responsible if under age. And if they were of age, I’d get their contact information and keep after them until they ponied up some cash.

This is so true! I had some PDR I wanted done out of pocket; so, I went to the body shop that had done some insurance work for me before and did a good job. The asshole there basically said he would only take insurance jobs and everybody else to the back of the line, as in “go away”.
Found out the owner fired his ass for that kind of stuff.

I think, I’m not sure, but I think it’s the shops that do insurance work are both incentivised by inflated repair costs for insurance work and also because they don’t want to turn down or delay insurance work in the even the insurance company might direct work to another shop.
I’ve got a mate in the business, but the shop he’s at only does insurance work, and they’re flat out every day of the year.

I think that’s true. I think the insurance company doesn’t haggle with them as much as private customers when they get into it and find more things to charge for above the original estimate.
