Kinja'd!!!

...

I’m out of Texas, through New Mexico, and In Tucson today.

The car is doing ok. Last night it started having fuel starvation issues and wouldn’t go over 55mph on the flat, or about 45mph uphill. The problem is likely the bad location of the electric fuel pump which is mounted too high above the level of the fuel tank, a problem exacerbated when driving uphill - not my doing, previous owner of course did this. Trying to find a better location lower in the engine bay as a temporary solution (will be refurbing the mechanical pump in the future).

Otherwise the car has been doing great, and it’s been a pretty easy drive so far.

Guadeloupe mountains in west Texas.

You’ll never guess what I spotted driving up I-10 either...

I can’t imagine going down I-10 in an old SAAB, you are very brave. That drive through the Guadalupe mountains is actually pretty nice, definitely a nice little detour over the interstate.

Back in the 70's and 80's the speed limit was 55 everywhere so a slow car really was not a problem.

Apparently on their way to a Borgward show in California, is what they told me. There is a group of them headed down route 66 over the next couple days. This one was headed down I-10 because the owner has already seen 66.

Yeah, I came up 54, and it was deserted. I saw a couple cars going the opposite direction but nobody was going north, fun drive.

Very cool! Surprised there are enough of them in the US to even warrant a show, haha!
