Kinja'd!!!

There’s a dual two lane roundabout setup on my morning commute, with a few hundred feet of road between them, and I was stuck behind a semi for both this morning.

He REFUSED to use the truck apron, which led to the problem. His solution? drive from the right lane, straight across the first roundabout using both lanes, then in between them, he drove between BOTH LANES slowly, so no one could pass.

He then cut to the left lane for the second roundabout, crossing over into the right lane once in it, finishing in the right lane after exiting.

I’m sorry, but use the damn apron, and stay on the inside lane (see above image). When its safe to pass you between the roundabouts, allow traffic to do so. If you’re afraid someone is going to be next to you in the roundabout? Well, USE THE APRON.

That’s ridiculous. There are very few roundabouts around me, so there are lots of people who have no clue how to navigate them, which is frustrating - but the truck driver is supposed to be a TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.

I have a license to drive an 18 wheeler. That should tell you all you need to know about that whole ‘trained professional’ thing. :P

“Gee, I wonder why it’s called a truck apron. Must be some weird kind of sidewalk. Better avoid it.”

A recent study found a majority of truck drivers don’t understand what the truck apron is for.
